Health Freak | Capital One over limit charge? |
Hi everyone
I am very angry because I am trying to call Capital one.
I cant seem to talk anyone who speaks English without me having to say 'pardon'
I went over my limit on 23.05.07 only by £7.00
I have called them to make a payment of £9.00
I need to know if I will incur a charge from 23.05.07 til now.. I tried asking them lot that, but it seems like I am ordering a curry instead of talking about my account! |

Don't give up. Write to them as it's more difficult to wriggle out of it. List down the sequence of events. If possible include the names of the people you talked to (yes, I know easier said than done). They will have on their computer all the times that you've called even if they don't have the details of the conversations. Also for good effect, demand some compensation for their incompetence!
I had a similar problem with them. Took me more than a month to sort it out. Got all my charges repaid with apology (I know no compensation which is a shame).
Currently battling with Norwich and Peterbrough. Allegedly resolved on the phone. We'll see when the statement comes next month! |

Unfortunately, it seems that all of the big financial companies and many other big companies are all outsourcing their customer service departments to India. For them it's more cost effective. For us, we just have to be patient and try to encourage them to enunciate their words clearly and audibily so that both parties understand what the conversation is all about. |

Capital One have a poor reputation for their level of customer service.
Most excess fees are computer generated so it is very likely that you will incurr an excess limit fee as the computer would identify the excess as soon as it occured.
Put your case in writing and send by recorded delivery requesting a response within 14 working days to seek a refund or waiver of charges. |

If this is your first time offense they might out of courtesy make an adjustment on your account. But if it has happened more than once already you may have just ran out of luck. You should defly try calling and asking for an adjustment. If they do then great, if not then it didn't hurt to try. Good Luck. |

Capital One has always been pretty good as far as customer service. I never had a problem with them, but I too went over my limit once and had to pay a late charge. I decided to call them and ask them if they would please waive the late fee since this was my very first time doing so. The customer service person said that I would have to wait until the late fee applied itself to my account and then call back with the same information i was giving her and ask for it to be waived. You know what....it was waived and I have not been late since. Good luck |
