Most cash registers these days are very user-friendly and easy to understand. You will be trained on how to use it, so don't be afraid to get a job that uses one! |

its really not that difficult. dont go for a job because your worried about that. you will get trained and if you can use a computer its very close. each place is different but basicly you just scan all the items give the person the total. type in the amount they give you and give them their change. if they use a card you just need them to sign. just because a register is in the job dont let that discourage you. |

It depends on the store, but in those department stores like Belk's, Dillard's etc... it's "pan comido" (or in English, a "piece o'cake")
Ditto for those burger places. You just have to practise, like anything.
I worked in a Belk store for years. Maybe retail was not the perfect liftetime career for me, but the good thing about Belk is that they train you properly.
Perhaps when you get the job you could ask to come in one day and just watch? That will let them know you're serious about doing a good job.
Make sure that when you take someone's money, you don't forget to state the DENOMINATION ("out of $5," for example) and count what they give you, and COUNT the change they give back to you.
Better to take a little extra time and do a good job
Focus and confidence are key, you can do it

If you can use your keyboard, you can use a cash register. The keys on your board all correspond to something specific right? The "A" Button makes an "a" on your screen, etc. Think of the 'a' button as standing for blue denim jeans now. |

Since many stores use scanners, they are extremely simple to use. You don't even have to punch in codes and prices like in the olden days. The register even figures out the change.
A cash register is a lot easier to use than a computer or progamming a VCR. |

It's easy. I work at a store that uses them and teach the classes for them. If you can use a computer, you can use one of them. Even if you can't use a computer, they're easy to learn and people are going to be there to help you out. |

Well, it took me 35 years to master the opening thingy. I hurts me and it made me cry because it is so painful. I have regretted it for all my life. Keep avoiding the jobs with cash registers. |
