JuJu Bee | Collection agency will accept payments but won't report them to the credit bureaus? |
I have a collection on my credit report that is killing my credit. The current balance is $464. They agreed to a payment plan. I have been making $50 per month pymts for two months now but the agency refuses to report this to the credit bureaus. They said they only report zero balances and asked me if I had a credit card I could use to pay it off! (Yeah, that will help me in the long run). Is there anything I can do? I can pay it off in the next four months or so, but I would like for it to show up as a revolving account, or at least show that I am making payments on it. |

You have to pay the entire amount off before they can drop it off your credit report, no matter if you are paying on it or not it is still delinquent, it will continue to be on your report for the next 4 months or till it is paid.. |

Inform the 3 main credit bureau agencies including copies of all correspondence from the collection agency.
Also file complaints with BBB and your local TV/Radio troubleshooter.
Collection agencies are the lowest of the low. Lower than even politicians in the bottom-feeder list. |

Sorry, once you get so far behind on your payments that your creditor has to turn your account over to a Collection Agency, you are in deep financial trouble. You could have worked with your creditor to make payments and avoid collections. But if they sent it to a Collection Agency, that means you avoided them for months and didn't take responsibility for your debt.
Nothing you can do but continue to pay off your debt. This collection will follow you for 7 years now. |

No.....you gotta pay it in full |

well until you pay it off, it's technically an open debt. most collection companies only report closed accounts. sorry that's just the way it is. |

Once the balance is paid off, it must be reported to the credit bureaus, usually it is reported as "settled for less then full amount". |

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. This debt is not revolving credit. It's a collection account. They dont' report monthly payments. |

no they only report the balance. Now when it is satisfied then the y will report 0. It will take some time for scores to rebound |

You're stuck - the best bet would be to bite the bullet and pay it off ASAP. Get an official confirmation letter from them showing your zero balance and send it to the credit agencies yourself to ensure that your score gets updated. |

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. The good news is that once you pay off this debt and continue to stay debt free, your credit report will improve! Stay away from credit cards and department store cards that can get you in trouble. |

Credit agencies deal with the full debt amount. They will only report when the full debt has been paid off |

That's an easy one. Refuse to pay them until they report or remove it from your credit report. They have no further action and all they want is to get paid. They don't make money by keeping it on your credit report. You have leverage as long as you still owe them. And less than $500 isn't worth taking you to court. |
