Wow! I started overcharging an exorbitant amount, and have now shredded my credit cards and need to stop interest from accruing and stop collectors from calling. I'm going to be in college for another year and a half, and won't be able to work more than 5 hours a week until I graduate (school does not allow me to work any longer, and I will be taking classes/doing research over the summer, so won't be able to rack up many hours then). I've sent e-mails to the different companies asking for a compromise of some sort, but I'm not sure how receptive they'll be to that. Is there any way I can delay my payments for another year and a half until I graduate? Thanks in advance! |

Are your debts in collections? If so, don't talk to them on the phone at all!! Only communicate by mail. And have your letters sent CERTIFIED WITH RETURN RECEIPT. If the credit agency makes an offer for you, make sure that you get it in writing & notarized.
If a credit card company writes off part of your debt, that portion written off is considered income for you and is taxable!

If you dont want to go through your parents as they will most likely give you an earfull. Try some credit consolidation companies. They'll lower your interest rates and probably give you a lower monthly payment. There are tons of lenders/debt relief out there. Here's one that's pretty good with a free consultation. See which one offers you the best solution.

No - you are in a deep hole. The creditors will likely sell these debts to collection agencies. Expect your credit record to be ruined and a lot of hounding from collectors. |

you can call a debt relief agency or pay the minimums shouldnt be too much, also you can call the CC companies and ask for lower interest rates it usually works just dont ever not pay it ruins your credit |

Ask your parents if they will consider giving you a loan for at least part of the amount. Then you will owe them, not the credit card company.
You might also try to see if the research you do over the summer can be paid research. Talk to the professor and find out if they can pay you a small stipend, or consider reducing your hours at the research position so that you can work a few hours a week also. It'll tire you out......but it's better than being in ridiculous debt....OR use your weekends in the summer to work.... |

Your best bet is to work with a credit counseling agency to tackle this issue.They are not going to delay payment especially the way things are now. I was a similar situation, trust me attack this now or you will be sorry in the future. |
