Considering a personal loan...?
If I was to take a small personal loan (less than £500), how long does the whole process take. Would I have the funds within a month for an overseas trip?
Thank you!!

An Open Book
The amount of money you want seems so little that it is best NOT to take out a loan. If you do, you must read the interest rate and figure out exactly how many extra hundreds of dollars you'll be paying just for taking out the loan.

My advice is to save your money in a high-interest savings account.

It all really depends on when you need the money. If you have a job or any sort of income coming in, you should save that and use that instead of taking out a loan.

Taking out a long is a long process, depending on what type of loan. They want documents of EVERYTHING. If the trip is a necessity within a month, I say post pone it until you have enough money saved. That is the best, worry-free choice you could pick.

Hey, this way you can enjoy your trip debt free!! :) Have fun & Good luck!

Make sure you read the small print and make sure you know EXACTLY how much you have got to pay back.

STAY WELL AWAY, a small loan can turn into a very big worry, try to save.

that isn't very much money. that is roughly about 750 us dollars right. it is hard to even get a loan for that amount. here all it takes is a signature and the loan officers approval and the next day you have the money. i got a 8000 loan with no collateral and the cash was in my account the next morning.

Would you not be better off saving / Using a credit card with 0% interest deal.

Check out what would be the total cost. personal loans can be a rip off.

If you don't have / want a credit card, maybe an overdraft on your bank account.

If the company was legit and all above board you'd have the loan within days after signing the contract. With most high street banks they can have to money in your account within hours (if you bank with them). No legit company would make you wait more then a week.

Darren from Moneyfacts
When applying for a personal loan with a bank or building society the amount of time it takes will vary. Some offer same day funds, so if accepted the money will be in your account on the same day. Others may take a few days to transfer the money or send you a cheque.

However, the minimum amount for a personal loan from the banks or building societies is usually around £1,000. Alternatively you could opt for asking you bank to offer you an overdraft or apply for a credit card with a 0% introductory purchase deal.

Take out an overdraft. The amount is too small for a personal loan.

Yes, you can get funds in a month time as it is not a time consuming process.
