You have to ask your banks. |

Abbey or Halifax do a basic savings account with a debit card - Visa Electron. Doesnt matter if yu have bad credit - you can open an account because these dont give you a cheque book or card. You can pay bills via card or direct debit. Other than that - American Express have launched a pre-pay debit card which works like a phone top up card. |

A debit card is NOT a credit card. You can get a debit card provided you have a checking or savings account. It comes directly out of your account. If the money is in there, it will go through. It neither hurts nor helps your credit rating. It is handy to pay bills online and faster than checks. Also, when you bank online some banks don't show you what checks you wrote, but when you do a transaction electronically (via debit card) the merchant is always listed. |

Yes a debit card is NOT credit. They are secured funds already in your checking account. You can use the debit card like a credit card up to the limit of what you have in your checking account. |

open a bank or credit union account, ask for a atm card, they usually are debit cards with master card logos on them. you must have the money in the account to cover the purchase or the sale will be declined. check with the
bank or credit union about their rules for this. |

Yes. Debit cards are based on money in your bank
account. |

yes--a debit card draws money from your checking account
I assume you have a checking account--if you've been reported to ChexSystems, no financial institution will let you have a checking account |

a debit card is different to a credit card, as the name suggests a credit card gives you credit, a debit card won't allow you to spend money you don't have. |

yes you can, a basic bank account is what you require. |

I would change your bank. Most offer free Bill Pay with basic accounts.
And yes...you can get a debit card with bad credit because it's based on your bank account...not a credit account. |

A debit card has nothing to do with credit. You use the card to pay for things with the money that you have in your account. If you don't have enough money it wont go through unlike check when you can write out a check even if you don't have any money. Of course that is a crime punishable by law. The real problem you may have is not being able to open up a bank account if you have really bad credit. Some banks will require a credit check to become a member of their banking institution. You should be able to pay your bills online if you have established a checking account. Call your bank! Good Luck! |

try looking for something called a 'cash plus' pre payment credit card - you put the money on there to pay things online etc, and you wont find yourself on that spiral of debt - good luck |

It all depends on your bank/credit union. If you have a checking account with direct deposit, some banks/credit union will give you a debit card. Just ask your financial institution. |

I have a Rush Card. It's a prepaid visa. I use this on-line or paying bills because of identity theft. Plus the female card is cute, or u can go to a check cashing place and a lot of them offer prepaid visa's. |

In the U.S.
You can. However, It varies from bank to bank.
Most banks only check telechek or checksystem for a bad checks. Other banks will do it for the checkcard and the remainder will do it for both the checking and and the checkcard.
If you have basic checking account you can use ach to pay your bills online if the biller supports that type of payment. You choose ach. You enter your routing number and your account number and sometimes the check number. Posting time varies from 2 to 5 days.
Some banks limit how many ach payment you can do a month. |

Yes you can - though certain banks like Halifax wont give you a debit card if you have a bad credit rating.
Try one of the big banks - like Lloyds or Barclays. They should give oyu a debit card. Its not a credit card - you're asking for access to your own money not asking for credit |

depends how bad your credit rating is. I know someone who has a bad credit rating and is still paying off debts from a previous marriage. Although now re-married they are only allowed a basic account and don't have a debit card.
Go and ask the bank. worth a try, nothing to lose. |

It depends on the bank, shop around. They may give you a card as card transactions can be declined. They probably won't give you a cheque book, and may not let you set up direct debits. I vote we all go back to cash transactions, pay etc. The banks are making billions while we struggle. |

A debit card has nothing to do with your credit rating. If you have a checking or savings account with money in it you can get a debit card. It's like using cash. If you use the card the money comes out of your account right away. If you have no money in the account it will reject. |

Hi, it all depends on the bank institution, but usually yes, because this is your own money that you will be using. It is not a credit card, so you could not overcharge, and then not pay. Hope it helps |

go to a bank that will give you a secured card, this means giving the a set amount (like $500) and then you can spend up to that amount - starting with a new bank means you are creating a whole new history and you have to be honest with them and they do not like to hear excuses and how much it gets on YOUR nerves |
