My boyfriend always buys cigarettes online. He has always been consistant with this one site which has always ended up good. But this one time he tried another overseas one because it was a little bit of a better deal.....well, they took the money and that was the last we heard from them.
I think the best bet is to never deal with any overseas transactions. Esp. when it comes to cigarettes and tabacco...because it is illegal, (we didn't know that till after the fact) and they will take your money despite that.
If it was a site located in the USA you can contact your bank if you went through your banking account and they can tell you what to do. If you used a credit card company you can try to contact them....best bet would be to contact the BEtter Buisness burreau or the department of consumer affairs. Best of luck! |

advise your card company - and provide them the website address.
your card company may send a new card - so as to make the details that have been collected unusable |

Immediately contact your credit card company and report a case of fraud. They can chargeback the account to get your money back, and they might also replace your cards just in case. |

Contact trading standards. More than likely the site has been shut down by Customs and Excise. Advise your card company that no payments are to be taken from this company xxxxxxxx |

It is illegal to buy cigs and alcohol from abroad via the internet. Was it a foreign website?
If it was a UK company and they were selling at vastly under the normal price then they are either counterfiet or dodgy. In either case you should cancel your card |

there was an item in the news at the end of november about companies selling cigarettes and alcohol via the web. believe it or not they actually were legally. however these were coming from eastern european countries i.e. bulgaria romania etc. a ruling by the EU shortly afterwards said that they were not allowed to do this as duty needs to be paid. be it eu duty or uk duty. check your bank statements and see if any money at all has been taken, you might be lucky and have dealt with a moral company. or you may be unfortunate and be a victim of credit card fraud. phone bank check payments and cancel card. |

Tell your card company what happened with the situation.
They can help you out best.
If they are using the card you can cancel and get a new one, but you got to work something out with the company. |

Call the credit card company ASAP! Then call the credit bureau's as well so that they can monitor your credit. Sounds like you may have been scammed! Do these things right away. You may also want to call your local police dept., to see if you can file a report with them in case there is an identity theft involved, it will already be documented. You should not wait this one out. |

Cancel your credit card NOW. Then tell your card company the story and with luck they will not make you responsible for any losses on it. |
