Believe me, crooks have their ways. I would cancel the card immediately! (If I found out that it was used). |

You should cancel the card immediately whether you know it's been used or not. You already suspect it may have been used so canceling ASAP will save you a lot of grief and the card issuer would rather you canceled it than risk it being abused. They will gladly issue you a new card. Additionally, you should contact all 3 credit bureaus and have a "fraud alert" placed on your record with them. |

They don't need the card to buy stuff. They can buy things on line. They can buy things over the phone. Most on line merchants and over the phone merchants ask for the expiration date and the security code but not all do so it is not impossible to use a credit card with out all the additional info. |

The same way that YOU used it to make a purchase.
YOu can call people on the phone and if you have the numbers they will make sure that the card was not reported stolen and then the transaction will be authorized.
I would not waste my time tracking down the thief. Let the police do that.
all you need to do is cancel the card or report it stolen. If it is someone you know you might be able to ask the merchants where they sent the stuff that was ordered. |

Did you also give them the expiration date? If so, yes, you had better cancel the card immediately and never give your card info to anyone. |

You can enter a credit card number manually, without swiping it. It happens quite frequently when cards are de-magnetized. You should probably cancel the card right away, and dispute the charges that were made that you didn't authorize. You may be able to avoid paying for them. By cancelling the card, you may have a better chance of catching who is doing the charging since some stores will detain the person presenting the card if it comes up as invalid/stolen. |

All the time....just imagine ordering online....no swiping right? look up your balance often there could be a trail to follow if some foul play there has to be evidence of what they purchased and where. |
