To be honest if you don't know how they work, you shouldn't have one. I'm not saying that to mean but credit card companies LOVE to scam people who don't know much about this stuff. Trust me. |

If you don't understand how credit works you are to young and probably immature to have one. If you don't have a job you won't get one, if you have a student loan you might as I hear the companies are now targetting college students. Leaving them, by the way, years in debt by the end of college and starting life behind the eight ball.
Use cash and stay out of debt. If you can't save up and pay cash you most likely don't need or can not afford the item. The fact that you "really want a credit card" not need, but want...that attitude is deadly.
If you aren't 18 you can't even get one because you can't sign a contract and that is what a credit card is an agreement to buy now pay later and at ridiculous interest rates. Credit when used improperly will cause you nothing but grief and years of stress, collection agencies hounding you, solicitation by telemarketers etc. If that sounds like something you want to deal with then fill out an application and see where it gets you. |

You should have a credit card to earn credit. Make sure to keep up with the payments to keep your credit strong. You apply for credit cards, either at the company, the bank, online, or through the mail (when they send you credit card applications). A credit card is where you charge whatever you want to purchase then pay back the credit card company.
You can find out more at http://money.howstuffworks.com/credit-card.htm
I just got my first credit card, but I wasn't approved because I do not work...or something like that. I went to WAMU and got a SECURE credit card. You might want to look into that. Basically, it is like a debit card, because you put in money first and use it. But you still can build up credit with it. |

go to www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com and apply for one here you will be able to compare them all side by side on rates, fees and rewards but if you are just starting your credit you will not get appoved for the higher end credit cards since you have to have stablish credit, just go under poor or no credit section if you are starting your credit and it will give you a few options. |

It is now easier than ever for students to apply for credit cards. Even if you aren't employed or you don't have good credit, you could apply for a prepaid credit card. These entry level credit cards can help you build better credit if used responsibly. When used irresponsibly, you can rack up a lot of debt. Here is a hood website to compare student credit card offers:

You can apply for a credit card. Before you apply for one, just research on different cards and choose the one that best fits you. If you are new to credit, l suggest applying for a card that has low interest, 0% balance transfer, rewards such as cash backs and no annual fees. This will help you.
