sb0983 | Credit Cards? How do I get my own credit card? |
Today I found out that my credit score is 770. The reasons why my credit score is high is because my parents co signed ro me to get a car loan. I also have a credit card but my parents also have the same credit card. Today when I went to apply or a credit card I got rejected. I don't make alot of money. My question is even though I have a high credit card and becuase I don't make alot of money is that the reason I got rejected? Is there any way I can got my own credit card since I don't make alot of money. Are there any credit cards companies out there that would give me a credit card without have to make alot of money? |

Don't get a credit card to begin with because companies love ripping you off by high interest. They rejected you because your too high of a credit card. All that crap you need you can't take it when you die. You are literally having the credit card own you. They destroy your life. |

First you need to get with a bank and get a secured credit card . Its your money you spend but is monitored by credit beuros as a credit card . Use it at least 2 times and pay your bill on time the first time.. and for the second purchase do the same. after you do that try and apply again because now you have the credit in your name (solo) Now you have deemed responsability for your self.. But remember credit cards can be serious draw backs if you are not careful.. Good luck |

A lot of banks (Wachovia is the one I use) bundle accounts together and if you carry checking and savings, after a period of time, would be eligible for a credit card. By carrying a balance, you establish credibility with them.
That's one way to start. |

A good friend of mine whose credit score was not so good told me recently that even though she had a poor credit rating and was previoiusly rejected when she applied for credit cards, she applied online for a credit card and had her application approved. This was sometime last week I think. The site she applied via was:- http://www.smartecredit.com/credit_card_application_for_bad_credit.php

Yes. You'll have to earn more money to get a good rate, but look at majors (Citi Credit cards, etc.) |

YOu don't need a credit card. Get a debit card instead. You won't get rejected and you won't get into debt. |

Try applying for an Orchard credit card. They are probably one of the easiest to get http://www.ccvault.com/credit_cards/bad_credit.php |

Usually you have to buy something over $100.00 and pay cash up front...Then that store recognizes you as paying "on time" and it looks good on their record.
Next, buy something and pay cash up front again at another store.........b/4 long that store will offer you their credit card, and the word gets out to Visa, and other master card holder and they will offer the same....
Just keep in mind that the interest may be 25% or higher.
If you are late, you still owe the amount and the extra 25%added 2 times for 2 months late....It really adds up, so keep up with the minimum payment required, and pay extra when you can, even if it is just $10.00.because that means you have better credit than the average person. good luck |

I'd say hold out till you make enough money. Your debt to income ratio plays a huge part in whether or not you get loans and credit cards. So just hang in there, you'll be able to get one soon enough.
If you're really bent on having one in your own name, go one the Capital One website. Actually any big name bank will do, then apply. They'll tell you right then and there. If that one doesn't work try another. just don't do it more than a couple times.
With a credit score of 770 you can afford to have a couple "inquiries" on your credit. just don't go overboard. try a couple places then give it a quarter or two before you try again.
That's what I've got for suggestions. If I was in your position I'd focus on stepping up the income a bit though. Getting a better paying job will lessen the chance of becoming over extended. You might find yourself in a bind if you get the credit card but don't have the income to pay it. I know I did about 7 years back. |

The reason you were turned down is because you have low earnings. They think you will not pay on time for that reason. What you need to do is get a "secured" credit card. That means it looks just like any other card. However, if you have a $300 limit, then you will need to deposit $300 cash as a deposit with them. It doesn't work like a $300 balance on a debit card either. You charge $75 one month and you pay $25 when you get the invoice. you will still have $300 as a credit limit and you will need to repay what you have borrowed. Do it on your own. Don't have anyone co-sign or anything so you build your own credit. In a year or two, after you have made the payments on time each month, the credit card company will refund your $300 deposit at that time. If not, they will liquidate your account and use the $300 to pay back what you owe and tell the credit reporting companies that you are a bad risk. It's easy. No one but you knows. And this way you will earn your good credit. |

Yes try Chase or Capitol One they usually issue it out with a low credit limit of about $300 or $500. Its better if youre a student/ student credit cards are the easiest to get/ but then again do you really need a credit card?!! |

Are you sure you want a credit card? Don't even waste your time on thinking in a Capital One credit card. They are the worst company, because they don't report the right information to the bureaus therefore you're score will suffer. They are easy to get, the ONLY reason I have one was because I didn't have any credit and they were the only ones who would issue me a card at the time, but now that I got credit I'm seriously thinking about canceling it. Anyway, sit down and really think about this, the last thing you want to do is get in debt. It's totally up to you. Once you have a credit card it's very easy to get in debt, trust me on this one. Have you considered getting a debit card? |
