Lmfao, I'm 13 and even I understand this. It's not the fact that they don't have enough money, the make the taxes high enough don't they? It's the fact that the people personally don't HAVE the money. Printing money isn't the problem, it's that people don't have enough money for things. The govermant doesn't just give money out (if only)!!!

Look up "hyperinflation" on google. We don't want what happened in Germany to happen to us. The dollar is worth so little as it is.

Paper money is just as useless as the rocks in your driveway unless it is backed by something that could be give to people should paper money fail..This being said paper money is backed by gold bullion, most of which is stored in fort knox. Printing more money would mean less backing for paper money thus making it ultimately useless due to the fact of their not being enough gold supply to back more amount of paper money.

ha ha ha i wish! that would be like living in a dream world if the government could just print more money to help people in debt.

They can, but the result is to devalue the dollar. Right now, the US dollar is already weaker than it was a few years ago. Printing money will further erode the value of the dollar, and it causes inflation when the same goods and services are in the marketplace, and more dollars are there (from printing more money) chasing the same goods and services, the prices will go up (inflation).

It's bad policy to simply print more money. In Germany, prior to WW 2, the economic situation was so bad that it required literally bags of money to buy a loaf of bread, their money was basically worthless, and inflation was in the thousands of percent.

Doesn't help, you need more printed money to buy the same amount of goods. During the Japanese occupation in Asia, you need to carry sacks and sacks of Japanese currencies also called 'banana money' to buy one kilo of rice. People turned to bartering.

Cos it has to have a worth. The more there is the less it worth. You cant just make money.

It would lead to inflation. The money itself is just paper. It is the scarcity of it and the ability of the Treasury to back it up with tangible securities (gold) that gives it value. Therefore, the Treasury has to keep the amount of currency in circulation at any given time under control. When they print and release new bills into circulation they have to pull an equivalent amount of old bills out of circulation. Arbitrarily printing more currency and releasing it into circulation would cause it to lose more of its value.

Sure the government could just print more money but that would not help. It would just add to inflation, your dollars would have less buying power.

People need to live within their means & stop over spending on lifestyle.

Seeking answers
Well the government can't anyways, the government doesn't make the money to begin with. The private federal reserve system creates money out of thin air.

the dollar is worth nothing in ohter countries now, if we print more, its exchange rate decreases even more. for example, when u go to Europe and exchange 100 dollars for euro, u would get like half. back then, it wasn't that way

Jonathan D
imagine what one dollar is with now ok ............ what u can buy with it etc ........... now imagine the equivelent to that becoming 50,000 dollars ........ what happened to a lot of curencies around the world

Two simple reasons; if you print more, who do you give it to? And, secondly it effectively devalues the currency, especially on with regard to foreign exchange.

THEY would devalue the dollar even more than it is and cause hyper inflation

If you are in the labour spinning uk then they are more or less doing just that.
They used to have GOLD reserves so that in hard times it was the hedge. The BROWN jobbie sold the gold and invested in Euros.
The UK pound promises to give the bearer "diddly squat" paper money is worthless.
The whole money/share thing is a complete con job.!!

They could print more money but it would cause serious inflation. So they've done the next best thing and borrowed lots of money. This will also cause inflation, but not so bad because the effect will be spread over time.
