Utopia | Credit Repair help! I have paid every bill owed on my credit report, meaning I am debt free, READ ON? |
however even though all my debts are paid
(what a great feeling)
my credit report is a mess because these lousy creditors have not updated my report. So in reveiwing my report I am so over whelmed by the amount of items that are incorrectly reported, that I know have to fix. I simply do not have time to do this myself between work and school.
Does anyone know of a trust worthy compnay that can do this for me, please list a company that works to get these items either off my report or at least updated as paid.
Please list a company that you have had personal expirience with and can be relied on. |

if i was in your position i would fire off a letter or email to all your former creditors and remind them that you have paid them what you owe them and demand that they inform the credit reference agencies that you are no longer owing them money.
also you can politely inform them that if they do not do what you ask within a reasonable period of time that you will have no choice but to seek legal advice and and take matters further.
also point out that as you have gone to the trouble of getting yourself out of debt the least they can do is to do their part .
give them a period of one month to do as you ask or tell them you will be taking legal action. the last thing these companies want is to be dragged through costly court proceedings.
you could print off several letters all the same and insert the addresses and your signature by hand. that way you dont have to spend hours typing up individual letters. |

You're better off taking the time to do this yourself.
Someone you hire is not going to know whether or not some info is correct or incorrect. |

Filing a dispute with each credit bureau isn't that time consuming. You can list each item and the reason for dispute. Doesn't have to be complicated. You could just say "paid in full".
Don't even bother sending proof of payment. The credit bureaus contact the creditor for verification -- which is just the creditor saying yes or no. It should be all addressed within 45 days.
Don't waste money on a credit repair company. Their tactics tend to get reversed on down the road.
Congratulations on paying everything off! |

STOP You don't need a company. You don't have to spend more than a few bucks on postage.
Everyone is entitled to a copy of their credit report, once per year, through the Federal Trade Commissions website. It's completely free.
If, and only if, inaccurate information is reported, can you file with the various credit reporting agencies (Credit bureaus) to have inaccuracies corrected.
Having past due payments several months ago, and bringing the payments current or paying the debt in full doesn't constitute an inaccuracy. Remember, the credit bureaus report historical information, that's why they exist.
HINT: These firms which promise to remove all your sins and give you a nw sole are scams. You've done the BEST thing by getting out of the debt-hole. Now, stay out and live free.

You will have to spend the same amount of time with the repair company that you would have to put into it yourself. They will need all the payment documentation, dates, etc. So you'll have to pay them to learn about the problem, pay them to learn when and how you paid it, and pay them to contact the companies. Plust they won't have the same interest in getting it right that you do.
It's better to do it yourself. |

Unlike some saying above, don't go disputing everything on your credit report because
1) it wastes everyone's time and everyone's money
2) those expenses costs money which filters down to consumers
3) and they don't go away anyway because they will be verified as yours
4) the dispute process is for errors not an opportunity to be fraudullent
Depending on when you paid of items, give them a month to update. Then you want them to show a zero balance/ paid in full. The ones that haven't updated within a reasonable time, dispute the balance because that's what's wrong. You want it to show paid.
I think it's great you have cleaned up your credit and things can only get better from her. Good for you. |

All you have to do is get in contact with the three credit agencies, you can even do this over the phone, tell them you want to dispute everything on your credit report. They will get in touch with the creditors, then they will update everything for you. Kudos on paying everything off on you credit report. But it is better if you did this instead of paying someone to do it for you. It was a lot of work, but I had a lot of things deleted off mine. It is worth the time. |
