helping others | Credit card advice? |
Does anyone have any advice on the best credit card on the market. I at this time have never had one. I want to have only one credit card for emergency purposes only. but I dont want to pick a bad one. I want to know of one that is not a rip off with all those extra charges and fees. most all credit cards are ripp offs im sure but im looking for one with low credit limit. that would be good for having in case of emergency. this is my mom's account im using to ask this question. so i will check my answers as soon as i can thank you all for giving me any advice you can on picking a credit card for my very first one. |

The world of credit cards is HUGE. You have to decide if you want a low rate, reward points or miles, cash back, etc. Check out www.mybank.com/creditcards for credit card advice and credit card shopping. |

My advice would be not to get one, they are too dangerous and if your not careful can get into serious debt.
Far too tempting to just use for that 'must have' pair of boots! |

I agree. Save up an emergency fund. The last place you want to be during and emergency is in debt.
Been there done that. |

There is no best credit card since everyone has different needs, low interest, rebates, airline miles, etc.
You want one without annual fees. Try a credit union in your area. They usually have much lower fees than banks. |

The best way to prepare for financial emergencies is with an emergency fund; not a credit card. During a real emergency (loss of job, injury, etc), you'll have the added stress of debt and interest when you use a credit card. Save up 3-6 months worth of expenses in a savings or money market account. |

Save up for an emergency. The last place you wanna be in the middle of an emergency is in debt. |

Well if you are gonna actually use it and pay it off each month, I am happy with Discover. I put all my big purchases on there and then can redeem the cash back for gift cards to stores and restaurants. Plus there is no annual fee. |

Get one with a low fixed interest rate. Beware of companies that unjustly raise interest rates. Only spend what you can pay. |
