First your original creditors will call you, then get turned over to collection agencies. Collection agencies will sell your accounts to other collection agencies. Depending on what state you live in, they can garnish your wages.NJ and CA are garnishment states and PA is not a garnishment state.

A lot of people think it gets "erased" due to the statue of limitations. That is WRONG. On your credit report(TransUnion, Experian and Equifax), there is a thing called "Date Updated" and evertime something happens with your account (ie: payment, lateness, sold to another collection agency) that account gets updated. It is 7 years from the last updated date and it really never comes off since it's always being sold.

By law, you can tell collecters not to contact you and they must stop.

As far as your credit.....It will dramatically drop!

I work at a company that legally removes/deletes negative items from your credit report. By law the only thing that has to be on a credit report is unpaid child support. Our company isn't just some lame company either. We have been in business for over 15 years, nationwide. We are not a debt consolidation company. That will hurt your credit.

What we do is legally dispute the negative items on your report.

Our fees range from $299.00-$999.00(anything over $599.00 is usually for a married couple repairing thier credit together/jointly).

You do NOT pay on the negative bills(only accounts in perfect standing). We dispute them and they get deleted. For every deletion, your score rises anywhere from 5-100 points depending on what type of account it is.

Visit www.pleasefixmycreditscore.com or
www.crawg.com and use ref code 3979.

One of our customers had a 454 credit score with a forclosure of over 200k, a reposession and a bankruptcy. Within 5 months, he was in the high 700's.

Depending on which credit card company and how much, the credit card may just sue you. Capital One has their own in-house collection dept and are very likely to sue, even for small amounts.

Or the credit card cmpany may sell your debt to a collection agency. Depending on which collection agency, they may just hound you or they may sue.

Some of your credit cards may have an arbitration clause. It is likely you will get a summons to show up for arbitration

When they get a judgment, they can then attach your bank account, garnish your wages, and lien your property.

Perhaps you should check into credit counseling. Check here for one near you: http://www.nfcc.org/

They will send your debts to a collection agency, your credit score will be shot down. However, I don't know how you got in that kind of debt you if I were you I would consider filing bankruptcy. You should never allow yourself to get a credit card again.

You will be taken to court and most likely the court will issue a judgment in favor of your creditors. That will allow them to garnish your wages and take other actions to force you to pay.

If you are sufficiently poor, you may be "judgment proof". Your creditors can still get a judgment against you, but the court will allow you enough money to live off, so the creditors may not have any effective way of collecting their money.

If you can't pay it back, your
credit score goes down.
It will be hard for you to get
loans, a mortgage, some
jobs, etc.

If you stop paying then your credit score will be ruined and your credit history will screw till 7 years. And the credit card company may sue you and if they win the judgment against you then they can garnish your wages. And you would face problem while purchase home or taking a loan in future.

I would advise to go for a debt consolidation program wherein the debt counselor would negotiate with your creditors and settle down on your debts and would than provide you an affordable debt repayment plan and hence you can pay off your debts.

Hope this answers your question and helps you. Good luck

the only way to get out of this debt is to stop paying them and work with a great company to get you out from under the debt burden.
i know a great company that will consolidate all your unsecured debt, you need to have a minimum of $5,000 example, credit cards, hospital bills, car repos, store cards , etc. They will reduce your total debt by a large amount then work out a payment plan on the reduced balance with no interest or penalties. and you can set a payment plan to suit your budget. The best part is that everything is 100% legal through a large law firm that can work in all 50 states and gives you total legal protection against lawsuits and stops harrassing phone calls.
