rockstar_honey | Credit card for someone with bad credit? |
i have applied almost everywhere. when i was younger my mother used my name over some credit cards and screwed it all up. Anyone got a good card for someone with bad credit? |

Since the bad credit reporting was not yours, why not clean that up first and then start building your credit.
File disputes with the CRA's and the creditors for those fraudulent accounts.
When your mother stole your identity, used it to gain credit and then defaulted, she left you in a very bad position. Not only are your reports in bad shape but you also run the risk of being sued for the defaulted debts.
You should make cleaning that up a priority over applying for credit - doing that, you won't have to worry about having collectors hounding you or answering your door only to have a summons handed to you. |

I agree with Echo in that you really need to clear up what your moms did. You shouldn't suffer because she couldn't get her act together. Sorry to be rough about your moms, but that's how I see it. You'll need to dispute those accounts and possibly have your moms prosecuted for identity theft. I know it sounds harsh, but consider your current and future situation.
After you're able to resolve your situation with the credit bureaus and authorities, Orchard Bank has a wide selection of cards for people with different credit scenarios |

If you've been denied for multiple credit cards-- you probably applied for the wrong offers (probably designed for good / excellent credit). You can find a complete list of credit cards for bad credit here:
http://www.wowcreditcards.com/bad-credit.htm
Although these offers tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compared to 'standard' credit cards-- they'll allow you to build and improve your credit score over time. Eventually, with regular on-time payments-- you'll be able to apply for better offers with lower APR's and less fees.
Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK! |

Hi!
I would be very careful of so-called "shopping" or "membership cards..the fees are absurd..and very many times they report nothing at all.
Secured cards are the best bet from the likes of:
Bank Of America
US Bank
Wells Fargo
Please do not get one of the ripoff cards that, after they have added all the fees..you have very little credit..and it will look horrible the very first time they report to the bureaus.
Get a reasonable card..keep it well below 50% of your limit..and be obsessive about timely payments. In time..the bad stuff will roll off (maybe..) and the good stuff will help increase your score.
There is a lot of bad advice on here..like the one that says paying a chargeoff will improve your score. It won't.
A paid chargeoff is no better that a unpaid one..and you have restarted the seven year clock..which means it will be on there for *another* long period of time. It's just not worth it.
Pull all three *at least* four times a year..I pull all three whenever I feel like it. It is critical that you find inaccurate info..and dispute it. Sometimes...as is with my case with Crap One..litigation is needed to get them to follow the law.
So be it.
I'll probably sue Equifax as well..they are horrible.
Remember it is your job to dispute inaccurate info..and put good stuff on there while the damage the old bad stuff goes away in time. Do NOT apply for a bunch of stuff at one time..that hurts too. I think Citi Credit monitinoruing service and truecredit's 3 in 1 credit report and monitoring are worth looking at..they are realoly free for thrity days as long as cancel..and I have found Citi's Score simulator to the the best I have ever used. Pay it every month? Nope. I just can't see it.
I have no problem re-activating it after six months, though..when there is more on the reports..and more to learn.
I will keep Equifax's Gold service active for a few months..it is worth the fee to pull a report as i need to..that is my primary bureau anyways.
Good Luck! |

Major credit card issuers like Discover, American Express and Chase offer a credit card for bad credit holders. A 'shopping' card offers you an unsecured line of credit from specific sellers. Use these cards to increase your credit rating, since the credit bureaus will be informed about your timely payments. |

There's alot of websites you can go to with bad credit. I don't know any off hand, but go to yahoo search engine and type in credit cards. you should be able to find something. |

Generally, someone will give you a credit card. In a worst case scenario you will probably get a $200-$300 credit line and need to pay the annual fee up front.
Anyway, try typing HSBC into your search engine and apply for one of their cards. They won't make you pay the annual fee before you can use your card if you're approved. |
