You have to be 18 in order to get credit card, HOWEVER there are some prepaid debt cards available for teens. You will need your parents to sign up for you though. Here are some links:

You can check with your bank. Some will issue debit cards if tied to your saving account and your parents ok it.

You have to be 18 to get a credit card; even then, I DO NOT recommend it! It is so easy to bury yourself in debt with credit cards. Even if you think you will always make the payment, you have to be really careful! I would open a bank account and have them issue you a debit card. I would also suggest, if you have a cell phone, switch it over to your name. With no credit, you may have to have your parents name on there too but that will help.

A 16 year old, unless an Emancipated Minor, or with the co-signature of a parent of guardian, can not legally obtain credit.
Magic Word: "Debit."
Anyone with a bank account can ask for (and be given) a debit card - I think the cut-off is about 12 yrs old - to access their accounts outside of normal Banker's Hours, or at an ATM. Any card that will access an ATM can be used at a store that features a POS machine. Please note...if you want to use a debit card, ONLY access a chequing account when doing POS purchases, and then do yourself a favour...tell the bank to NOT EVER give you an overdraft simply because you *almost* have enough money to cover what you're purchasing. |

You might be able to use a pre-paid one. Your parents would have to set it up for you at the bank though. They would put a certain pre-paid limit on it, say $200 or $300, and I think minors can use those. It is impossible to exceed the limit and you can build credit for your future by paying the bill on time. |

because you are under the age of 18, you are not liable for a contract. therefore noone will sign you on any sort of contract, including a credit card. best of luck. |

natwest sent my cousin a cheque book at 15! she did use it, didnt pay it and £20 was added to her debt every month. nan had to bail her out by taking her to the bank manager. the bank was at fault though for giving a 15 year old credit and now gillian is one of the 1st children tp be on a credit black list.
Just stick to a debit card with a £50 overdraft for security. you can buy money (yes swap your £10's for £5's effectively) as much as you want when your 18 and legally responsible. |
