Get a credit card. If it is too difficult to get a credit card with favorable terms, go ahead and get any Visa you can find. That junk mail saying Pre-Approved? Open one and fill it out. No need to fear high interest rates. You are only going to put about $20 to $30 dollars on your card each month. Not even a full tank of gas. This way paying it off is manageable. Charging more on your card does not mean you improve your credit at a faster rate. All they care about is that you use it more than a paltry $15, and you paid on time. That is it. So charge the minimum, pay it off, and immediately you are improving your credit. If you can't get approved for a card, save up a few hundred dollars and ask a bank to use that as collateral for a secured credit card. This means you give the bank cash, then you use a card up to that value, and repay it each month to prove you can make timely payments. Once you have successfully paid on time using your own money for 6 months or a year, the bank will trust you to offer an unsecured credit card. The cash tied up in your old secured card is yours again, and now you play with their credit. Continue to charge a small amount and pay off entirely each month until you make enough money to not worry as much.
# of years you have used credit is 15% of your credit score. 35% is whether you pay bills on time for the last two years. 30% is your debt limit ratio. This applies only to consumer credit like a credit card or car payment. Mortgage and student loan payments are considered "white collar" debt, and hardly affect your credit score (but pay on time). Debt Limit ratio is the % of credit you are using now divided by the total amount you Could be using. Example: If you have a credit card with $2000 limit, and you are using $1999 of your max, 30% of your credit score is graded an F. If you already have a track history of good credit and have a max of $60,000 you can put on a credit card, and you are only charging fifty bucks on the card, that 30% of your score is an A+. 10% of your score is the 'mix' of credit you use. Loans, mortgage, cell phone, credit card. If you only use two types of credit you do yourself a disservice. And finally, 'Inquiries' makes up the last 10% of your score. Only "hard" inquiries worsen your score. These occur when you try to borrow money, e.g. apply for mortgage or car loan. "Soft" inquiries can be done to infinity without hurting your score. These harmless inquiries include checking your own score, the junkmail offers for pre-approved credit cards, and whenever your insurance premiums are adjusted at time of renewal.
Another smart thing to do is never pay medical or dental bills quickly. First of all, your insurance company takes time to apply all of your benefits. And if you pay right away prior to them contributing, it is close to impossible to get money from an insurance company. Wait until you receive a bill. These types of bills only hurt your credit if you don't pay for like 6 months. They do not inform the credit bureaus you are late on your payment every 30 days like a mortgage company will. Once you get your bill call in to their business office and "ask for the moon". Request to pay off the bill in small installment fees. These will not accrue much interest, and you can occasionally be a few days late making the payment. Don't intentionally exploit it though or the clinic will send it to a collections company and that is horrible for your credit score and history. The person you negotiate payments with might even reduce your balance just for calling. Once again, ask for the moon.

Get a credit card, one with a spending limit. Then buy something expensive. Only one thing. Like a nice TV or something. Once you bought it, then cut up the credit card. Make sure that when you make your payments on the item you bought that they are never late and exactly the amount due, or a little over. The credit company will see that you can make the payments. and you are responsible to make them on time. you no longer have the card to be frivolous with and you have established a credit history. though the history is small, it is a perfect credit. |

Start with a credit card, like capital one. Or even try a store department card. The important things that make up your credit are: paying your bills on time, your credit limit, how much/often that limit is used, and how long you have had the card. |

Simply just apply for a easy to get credit card, like a walmart credit card. Or just start paying bills. |

apply for a credit card with small revolving amount and use a little and pay off every month. |

Possibly try a secured credit card. You preload it with your own money but the payments are still reported. Make sure you don't go over your limit and with a real card pay your bill in full every month. |

sign up for credit cards at stores you shop at. Also, answer when you get ads for visa, master card etc. You will get high interest and a low credit limit and some might charge a yearly fee but what you do is accept them and only buy things that you have the cash for and pay the card back as soon as you get the bill. It will show favorably on you credit rating. Than you will get better offers and you can dump the old cards. |
