That is considered Poor on the scale of credit scores, but that will be good enough for you to buy a home. You can check up on how you rank with the national average online. The sites for the major credit reporting agencies:

actually the average credit score is 675. yours is not the best and you would get stuck with a very high interest rate if applying for a car loan or alike. if you were trying to purchase a home, it would likely not happen unless you used a hard money lender and even then, your int. rate would be very high. |

601 is "okay", not great or considered good nowadays. The highest score is 850.
I suggest that you pay down some of your credit cards. get them down to less than half of the credit line and keep it there. |

That score is bad and you want to raise that. Right now not many companies will give you credit. Try to shoot for at least 620 thats the minimum. When I bought my house they mortgage company wanted no less than 620 scores. Make sure to pay your bills on time, bring down any credit card debt, loans stuff like that. And dont apply for credit for at least 6 months. It goes in quarters so after every quarter the score goes either up or down. You can get a free credit report once a year from all 3 agencies. Make sure to check it out and look at your scores for each. They take the lowest score of the 3 when looking at credit. Each one will have a different score.. Good luck to you.. |

Small steps like paying your bills on time and using only part of the credit available to you. Also use your credit cards for making small payments regularly, so that it is reflected in your credit record. More tips available at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/buildcredit.html |

Perfect Credit Profile:
1 mortgage
2 installments
3 credit cards (with balance below 50%)
If you have this in place, no collections, and make payments on time your score should shoot up above 700.
Most anyone will give you credit, but be careful with it.
Good Luck |

601 is below average. Let's put it like this most people will not even consider you for loans, etc if the score is below 600. Quickest way to rebuild is paying off bills and not missing payments. Your debt ratio & payment history, especially the amount of time since you've missed a payment, are 2 of the biggies in determining your credit score. |

out of A, B or C credit a 601 would be B credit. B is good |

It is about average. The best way to increase your score is pay your bills on time and don't open any more credit card accounts. |

It is pretty good. They go as high as the 800s but the average is around 500 - 550.
Here are ways to improve it if you feel you need to.
