I have been to "many" different credit repair sites on the web. Some were pretty good and some were pretty bad.

I refuse to use a website that requires a fee to get their credit repair info when there is great free sites on the web..

I'm listing the best site that I've ever been to.

It is a "free" do it yourself credit repair site.

I have learned so much by reading and asking questions on that site. And, I have seen "significant" improvement on my credit reports after learning my rights and using them.

Don't pay for information that you can find for free.

Pay mininums on all bills except one, then contribute as much as logically possible to that bill each month until it's gone. Then the next bill, then the next, so on and so forth, until all debts are eliminated.

Pay your bills not a repair agency. Increase your income (get another job or two), pay the minimum on all except the highest interest one and give the maximum you can pay to that one. Keep doing that until you have payed it off, then go on to the next highest interest rate.

As you pay them off, check your credit report for accuracy. If you close an account be sure that they post it was closed by your request not theirs and that your final balance was 0. Keep some credit but don't use it.

To save money buy in bulk from Sam's or Costco, eat out less and look for ways to cut back on expenses.

People who have filed bankruptcy usually have continued to have financial problems after the bankruptcy.... they haven't learned financial responsibility.

Don't forget about the future, only work for companies that offer health insurance and have a retirement plan. Contribute to it to the allowable max as soon as you get back on your feet economically.

I was going through a credit repair agency and every time I called they would tell me that they sent out another letter to demand proof that I incured charges and unless they give them an itemized report they have to take it off my report. That went on for months. Needless to say I'm out a lot of money and my credit is just as damaged as it was before. They kept telling me that their team of specialized lawyers would stay on it until I could get a settlement and as much cleared as possible. If you have a blemish on your report its supposed to be dropped after 7 years or so. BUT that's only if the company that holds your debt doesn't sell it off to another company. That seems to be my problem. Bankruptcy sounds terrible and with recent changes it doesn't erase nearly as much as it use to.
It would cost you less to get online and go to the 3 credit reporting agencies. www.equifax.com , www.experian.com , www.transunion.com
You can dispute incorrect info by phone with transunion and online with experian I think. Contact the companies. Some will settle with you, GET IT IN WRITING first before you start a payment plan. I got screwed royally that way, reps can misrepresent. Then ask that they make a notation that account was paid per client agreement. Technically you made an agreement and paid. Credit will be in much better shape. So it might be bad if you go through a credit repair agency or declare bankruptcy. Best bet would be to do it yourself. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Only you can repair your credit.

Get a prepaid card (Visa or MasterCard) and develop a good way to use credit.

To repair your credit, you'll need to pay all your debts.

order your credit report from the three companies that provide them several times and challenge everything. Companies only have a limited time to respond to your inquiry and if they don't respond in time, it comes off your credit report. do this several times, if they miss the deadline.you can get it removed from your credit report.

I would you suggest that you write Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union. Tell them that you applied for credit, and was denied. Please send you the free credit report, go through each item carefully. Anything that is incorrect, write them back and they have to remove it if it is incorrect in 30 days by law. Once you do that, pay the min on each bill, then pick one out to payoff fast. Do this one by one.

Never file bankruptcy, it will haunt you forever. Credit counseling places are just as bad. Pay off what you can. Get low credit credit cards and rebuild

Don't fall for those credit repair companies you see advertised promising to fix your credt within weeks or months. It will take seven years to do it no matter what.

Corn_Flake
I've heard you might as well file bankruptcy as opposed to going through a debt consolidation agency. It's equally as damaging.

I've heard this through numerous sources.

Try looking for tips on;

Good Luck

You can look for repair agencies or you can avoid your bill collectors for about 7 years and your debt will be cleared by then.
