Credit report Score 601, good or bad?

It is borderline.
My son has a 601 score too, and he has credit.
He did it by going into a local merchant and letting them talk him into applying for their card. He was approved for 100.00.
That was a start. He bought and paid on time.
Then, he was offered a capitol one card. 300.00 limit.
Next, an HHGregg for 1250.00.
It can happen.
I recommend you go into a local store like American Eagle.
If you don't have any collections or charge offs on your report, you are likely to get a tiny bit of credit. When you show responsibility in paying it, others will give you cards too.
It just takes a little time to build it up.
