Now for the correct answer.

Simply removing you from the account if you are a authorized user will not remove the payment history, it will continue to show.

If you are a joint or co-signer it doe's not matter, you are responsible for the account same as your wife.

Divorce her.

Here is the right answer, find out if you actually are just a user on the card or if you are financially responsible, this means you signed on the card with her, sounds to me like it is her card and she just had your name on it. If this is the case have your wife call and remove you from the card, ask them to send a letter showing proof, then write a letter to the credit bureaus telling them this is not your card, and to please remove it from your credit bureau, just because she is your wife if you did not ask to be a person on the card you should get removed from it. Its pretty simple

Dispute the card through credit report to have it and its history removed altogether. I know 2 ways to do this; 1 is like 20 bucks and the other costs $125. www.creditrepair101site.com and www.aperfectsolution.us (promo code TDS) Good luck ; hope these help.

WOW..That sucks!!!

Well, I know that there are ways to build your credit back up, but will take longer than 5 months, i'm sure. It's too bad your wife messed up your credit like that..credit is the one thing that can get you something with no money down :) So, talk to your bank. Try to get a SECURED CREDIT CARD where you can add money to this card & eventually the creditor will give you a limit & you can build from there. As far as I know...that is the only recommendation that I've been getting to straighten up my credit.

Two things could be happening.

Last month FICO the major scoring system removed authorized users from the scoring calcluation. If you were an authorized user on more than just this one account, once those are removed you lost the history and lines of credit. This could account for the drop in score.

The other thing could be is in fact you are a Joint Account Holder. So in this case even though it is "her" credit card, if she does not pay then it shows as a negative for both of you.

If ya shoot your wife that will bump you back up to 700 most times but the best thing to do is not worry about it and pay cash for your purchases.

If the card is joint then it will affect your credit as well.

Mel
well because you are married, it effects both of you not just her, im sorry but simply put your screwed make sure your wife pays her bills. and a tip get a credit card with a low limit put 20 bucks a month on it and pay it off, will help build it back up.
