If you have poor / no credit, start here:

http://www.asapcreditcard.com/poor-credit.html

Although these offers tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compared to 'standard' credit cards-- they give people with poor / no credit history the opportunity to build and improve their credit score over time.

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!

Chase or Orchard bank..

If the company to whose credit card you have applied, charges you a very high interest rate, avoid it. When you apply for secured credit cards, you'll find some companies will charge you an annual fee. It is ok in certain cases. An annual fee not exceeding $60 is acceptable. But don’t pay over $60 in annual fees for a secured credit card.

Get a secured credit card. Your bank can help you.

Credit Card issue is strictly governed by the financial rules and all institutions had to comply with that regulations. Credit Card Companies are obliged to perform a credit check prior to its approval. However, your bank can help you by way of a secured deposit (put in GIC or so) to get a card approved. This is the easiest route to start with and do it immediately. But proceed with caution - do not spend spend money on credit card because it is easy to swap rather than to take out of your purse!!!

All the best

My personal opinion is that these statutory rules should be simplified.

Orchard Bank offers cards for people that are just starting out to build credit, and people that are starting over to rebuild credit. They also offer secured credit cards in the event that you don't qualify for a regular card. You would have to put a deposit upfront to get the same amount of the deposit in a line of credit, but usually after a year of on-time payments and keeping a low balance, you get the deposit back. Also you can add to the deposit at any time to boost the credit limit as well. I posted the link to the Orchad Bank website, I hope that this helps you

Good Luck!

Citi® Bronze®/AAdvantage® MasterCard®is by far the most widely used card. It is essential for regular travelers with average credit. Its reward program gives you an additional mile per $2 spent on the card. You can collect up to 25,000 miles annually, and can be redeemed for flights on partner airlines, hotel accommodations throughout the world, and car rentals. Additional benefits are: zero liability for unauthorized transactions, travel accident insurance and various Internet account associated services. The card does not charge any annual fee. But the drawback is the minimum APR cap for cash advances, set at 19.99%.

First let's look at the secured credit card for bad credit. A secured credit card requires that you deposit money with the issuing bank, and the bank will issue a credit card in the same amount for your use. Secured cards are guaranteed to be approved, because the bank has your deposit money in case you do not pay your balance. A secured credit card for bad credit operates much like a regular credit card. You receive a monthly statement, and you pay your minimum monthly payment or the balance in full each month. You are charged an interest rate, annual fee and possibly other fees for a secured credit card account.

Be aware that with a secured credit card for bad credit, your charges are not deducted from the deposit you have with the issuing bank. The bank is simply holding your deposit in the case that you default on your credit card balance. You must pay your monthly payments, and owe the bank the balance that you have charged on the credit card. You cannot refuse to pay simply because the bank is holding a deposit without further damaging your credit. Read more from: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/secured_credit_card.html
