Both payment methods are very much equivalent, however credit can afford you a little more protection inasmuch as your bank balance isn't exposed to a deduction immediately. In the event of a dispute (or a stolen card), it's a little more comfortable to just be seeking reversal of a charge rather than restoration of funds to your bank account. (Of course, there are sound procedures by which to handle this in either case that affords the consumer decent protections.) |

I will be telling customers this for forever and a day but, really..................
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE! if the card says "debit" on it, then the funds will come from the checking account in question. The only "difference" between choosing credit and debit for debit cards is the time it takes for the bank to process the funds. Added on that, some stores or banks will charge a processing fee for debit but they are required to tell u that, and it's rarely more than $0.50 anyway and if that will break your bank, then you probably shouldn't even be using the darned thing anyway. |

Debit generally is faster, because it's quicker to punch in my PIN than it is to sign my name.
Also, debit generally gets taken out of my account faster, so I don't have to keep track of a lot of pending transactions that haven't been deducted from my balance yet.
So, in general, I say "debit". |

Well debit is the money you have in your bank account, and credit is like the bank's money that you'll have to pay back. |

Debit - just make sure you keep on top of what you purchase. If you miss something it can really throw you off.
Credit - There are alot of people in a lot of trouble rigt now becuase of credit card debt. If you let it go, it will be very difficult to pay back. Many credit cards run 18% or more, so if you end up with a high balance it will be almost impossible to pay off.
The morale of the story is dont buy what you cannot afford and live within your means. |

Debit card is valid only if you have YOUR OWN CASH in bank account from which you have received the card.
Credit card allow you to purchase upto a prefixed limit (ofcourse by bank) without having your own cash i.e. bank will purchase for you and you will repay the cash after checking the MINIMUM PAYMENT Required from your statement.
Prefer to use debit card if you have cash in you account to save extra burden of interest and if you do not have cash then pay from the credit card and be ready to pay extra than what you purchased.
Hope this might have completely clear your conception of Debit / Credit Card. |

as long as you have the money to cover it, always use credit. there is no POS (point of sale) transaction fee (sometimes with debit this is a $0.50 fee they tack on). Also, with any credit transaction, you get certain benefits when it comes to products not working or whatever. You can have credit refunded much more easily than debited cash.
but always always always limit your depreciating asset purchases to amounts that can be paid for with the cash in the debit account. make sense? |

It's usually best to use debit rather than to spend money you don't have. However, if you are using a debit card, if you select credit, your money is protected by the card's affiliated credit network just in case something happens during the transaction. It's still a debit transaction though! |
