hollyberries | Debt consolidation question? |
I have been searching the net a bit, but not sure what i'm looking for. I'm looking for a way to consolidate my debt. I have never done this before, and not sure what place would be good. Or really where to start. Do i have to do things from my area, or can you do it from places in other states? Just looking for someone that has some information on this, or has done this before. I thank you so much for your time! :) Additional Details Speaking of the bad credit, mine is not bad, but pretty low, and need ways to start getting it back up. My fiance, and I would like to buy a house in the future. |

I was told consolidating debt doesn't always look so good. when I was finally financially able to fix my credit I got a free credit report (everyone can get one free one a year) and I literally went down the list and started paying what I could. I'm now almost debt free and didn't have to consolidate anything? unlike you my credit WAS BAD. I'd try this method first. It's more hands on and you know where your money is going PLUS when I spoke to the collection agencies a lot of knocked off a lot of it, some up to 50% and then they removed it from my credit report completely. It's just a thought!
Good Luck with purchasing your new home! |

Hey Guys
Debt is a horrible thing, we all try not to get into it but sometimes lifes circumstances and choices wind us up in a pile of debt. Personally, there is a wealth of knowledge available, and with a little thinking and planning, you can systematically get rid of all your debt. I used to be in big debt, a few hundred thousand, however from about the past year or so I have been living debt free. Im not promoting anything here, I just want everyone to know that its possible. I write about my experiences in regards to Debt Consolidation, Car Loans, Credit Cards, Student Loans on my blog listed below so stop by if you get a chance and leave some comments.

DO NOT DO IT! DO NOT DO IT! DO NOT DO IT! You can get out of debt without going to those crooks!
You do not need ANY credit to buy a house, A FICO score isn't necessary. You can use a mortgage lender that will under write it like Church hill mortgage. Tell'em dave Ramsey sent ya.
How are you because I'm better than I deserve! |

Don't do the services that advertise getting you a lower payment (negotiating with your lenders) this will destroy your credit.
Home equity line of credit, refi your home, or a credit card with a long term rate that doesn't jump up after a term. If you go with a card, NEVER miss a payment and put nothing else on it till it's paid off. |

The one thing you DO NOT want to do is go to any "debt consoledation service" that will charge you a "fee" for their services! Call your local City Hall or Library and ask them if they have any seminars or group meetings etc. that teach how to assist yourself to get out of debt. Even some community newspapers will have advertisements for this "FREE" service within your community. Good luck! |

You are who I need to sit down with!!
Use debt stacking at this point! First, write the names of your creditors in the far left column, next- write the interest rate of every bill owed to the right, write down the balence owed to right of this, write down, minimum payment to right of interest, finally, write down actual payment to right of minimum payment.
Starting at the highest payment, take ALL extra payments, to second highest and below, and add to first. Make minimum payments to second and below. After first is paid, take total amount and add to the second minimum payment, until all are paid in full. |

If you have any collateral, something that is paid for in its entirety, such as a car, boat etc. Then your banking institution should be able to give you a loan. Credit counseling should be used only as a last resort as it does impair your credit score. |

Why do you want to consolidate it? That just moves it around and frees up your cards so you can go further in debt. Instead, pay them off!
Make the minimum payments on every one of them. On the lowest dollar value, put all your extra effort toward paying it off. Once it is paid off, then roll that extra money to the next largest balance. Continue this snowball until all your debts are paid off.
You probably need to cut your expenses back to the bare minimum. Get rid of cable, cell phones, internet, etc. Lower your electric bill, gas bill, water bill, etc. Don't eat at a restaurant until your debts are under control. Take a sandwich for lunch. Cancel the gym membership. If you
Try to increase your income by getting a second job. If you have a car with payments, get rid of it, and buy a good dependable used car for CASH.
Go to the library and get "The Total Money Makeover". Read it and follow it carefully.
Go check out Dave's website as well.

Well little by little you have to get out of this mess. Sure you can consolidate your loans but this too is another loan with higher interest. Since you are pregnant maybe your fiance may find a second job to help. It will be wiser to rent until you can get a mortgage with lower interest. |

I would call your local bank. If you own a home and have equity a home equity loan is a good option. You will get a lower interest rate and the interest may be tax deductible. |

Debt consolidation is still going to be better than defaulting on your loans. Work with a free provider like http://www.nuggz.org/go.php?go=dg |

Opt for a debt consolidation loan: The easiest method of getting a debt consolidation loan is to utilize the equity of your home. Equity of your home is calculated and determined by the difference in the amount you have paid and the amount you owe. If the amount you have paid is more than the amount due, you can use it as collateral. This allows you to borrow money on lower interest rates. Besides, you also get tax benefit on this type of loan. Consult your tax advisor before opting for this loan.
