Reese g | Decent credit cards? |
I want to apply for a credit card in case of emergencies (serious ones, not "OMG I need new shoes charge it" ones) Like if the car breaks down and that kind of thing. I know I may not get one since I'm only 19 and I don't have much established credit. But I do have a family and I do want to make sure I am covered. A $500 limit would suit me fine, and I'd like there to be low interest rates and a commonly used one so that everywhere will accept it. I don't want a "popular" one cause those are probably outrageous. I heard chase is really good. I heard capital one soaks you for ever penny, yet everyone has them. I just would like a logical one. |

Try capitalone.com they have amazing credit cards... I got my first card with them, I was only 18 and they gave me a card with a credit limit of 300 and after three months, you can get a increase to 500.. Just go to the website and look at the credit cards, it will be under the no credit or credit needs some work.. At the most you might have to pay 19 a year for the card, but that is REALLY cheap compared to some. Good luck |

Credit One has a collateralized Visa credit card where you don't need good credit but you pay about $200 down which sits in a savings account and then they allow you $400 worth of credit. This can never be made into a regular account, there is a $6 monthly fee for using the card, and after a couple of years you can increase the amount you can use but for a fee. These kinds of accounts help restart your credit, or start your credit if you can't open a normal account. |

chase cards dont always have the lowest APR so definitely shop around. but we have thousands of cards that give you points now its ridiculous. and you get points just for usuing the sucker! we have cards for airline points, hotels, entertainment cards, or our newest the "chase freedom card". you can either get points for your freedom card or recieve cash back.
my advise is dont just apply for a credit card just to have one. get something back for using it! just check out chase.com to see all of the offers. and good luck getting accepted!!! |

I wasn't in your shoes too long ago. It's good to open a credit card to establish your credit. Within the next few years, you'll probably want to buy a car, get an apartment, etc. My first card was with Bank of America (formerly MBNA). I believe they set my limit at $1000. That much credit made me nervous, so I actually requested they lower it to $500, which they did. What is most important is finding a card that will suit your needs. A couple of pointers:
1) Find a card that has no annual fee.
2) Find an appropriate APR. If you will pay it off every month, you don't need to be too concerned with the APR, as you have a one billing cycle grace period to pay off a balance before they charge interest. If you think you may carry a balance, be sure to look for a lower APR. Many cards will offer a low APR for the first six months, but then they jack it up. Be sure you know what the introductory rate is and what the rate will be after that time expires.
3) Check out other fees. What are you charged if you go over your limit? What are you charged if your payment is late? Of course you want to avoid these situations, but educate yourself on what will happen if you do make one of these mistakes.
Most importantly, ask questions! If you ask the right questions, you'll be able to make an educated choice about the card that is best for you. Good luck! |

Ask your parents to help you with this, that all they have to do, is open a credit card with $500.00 credit limit. and put you as a second user. This will help you to open your own credit card in 9-12 month. Good Luck! |

i have capitol one as well and they work great for me 2000 limit and low minimum payments plus they work with you and you can't really just have a credit card for emergencies you'll want to charge a little on it each month |

I know of a charge card that has a 9.9% interest rate with a credit union. It has a $500 limit and up. The interest rate does not change everytime you open your statement. You will have to be a member and you may be able to join over the telephone with back and fourth conversations. The also cater to youths. Check out their website. Their rates have not changed in 12 years that I know of.
