Get a credit card through your bank. Explain to them that you want it merely to build up your credit, and they'll start you out with a card and a low limit so that you won't be tempted to overspend. Once you have it for several months, purchasing and paying off the entire balance each month, your credit should be built up sufficiently to get credit elsewhere.

I wish you well!

I asked the same question about 2 weeks ago and someone told me to save about $1000 put it into an account and ask for a secured loan from the bank your with. Pay it off immediately and you have built your credit history with that bank. Then you will get all types of credit card offers, and your credit score will shoot up.

Obviously, there is no way to build your credit file without obtaining credit from somewhere

One thing re: a secured credit card, if you decide to go that route...

Make sure that the Lender from whom you're obtaining the card actually reports their credit card accounts to the credit bureaus... not all banks do this (although most do), so you want to make sure that your credit card info will be reported to the bureaus... otherwise, you could end up having this thing for two years and then finding out it was never reported. (ideally, they should report to all three bureaus: Experian, Equifax and Transunion)

Getting a loan secured by a Certificate of Deposit would be the best way, as long as the Lender in question reports their loans to the bureaus. If you or your folks have a CD, getting the loan from that bank should be easy.

Be very careful about getting loans simply to build credit. A small charge account at a major department store is the easiest way. Perhaps one or both of your parents could sign with you, if they feel you're responsible enough.

A car loan.

Get a credit card, charge only what you have enough cash to pay for, and then at the end of the month, pay the card in full.

Try to get a Sears card first... they are very leniant on people with no credit histories. I would find the nearest Sears store.

Building credit means that you are building a reputation for paying your debt off. If you don't have debt, then you can't really build credit.

You can get debt through a car loan, mortgage, or credit card. The best way to start credit is through a card, though it doesn't sound like you want to hear that.

To ease your mind- you don't have to 'purchase' a credit card- most are free nowadays. You don't have to make purchases on it to affect your credit- the higher your credit limit compared to debt, the better. Also, if you do make purchases, you don't have to build debt. You can pay off the card every month (highly recommended).

Good luck!

Get a secured credit card from your bank. Its like a savings account you draw from and automatically pay back. This will build your credit quickly. Why don't you want to get a credit card? If you pay it off in full at the end of each month you wont get charged anything. You can earn rewards like plane tickets and such. I never pay interest on credit cards and get free flights all the time.

well, if you dont want a major credit card, try a store card.. like a clothing store or something like that. or get a secured credit card..

Well, I can show you a few options.

First, have you opened up a checking and savings account at a bank? If so, then what you might be able to do is whatever you have in your savings and use it as collateral to take out a loan. For example, if you had $500 in savings you might be able to take a small loan for $500. Then take the proceeds of the loan and open up a certificate of deposit with a term the same as the loan. By doing this, you not only have the money insure that the money will be readily available for the loan, but you can also gain interest while you're buiding credit. After the loan's repaid, then I would repeat the process a few months later. That's one way to build credit without having to apply for a credit card. Another way would be to enroll with a new credit bureau called PRBC. PRBC is America's Alternative Credit Bureau, providing a helpful service to the over 50 million people with limited or no credit history. If you pay your monthly bills on time, PRBC can help you build credit to qualify for a mortgage and better interest rates.

getting a cell phone in your name and paying it off on time. buying a car in your name and making steady payments..

basically if you're old enough start putting bills in your name!

Student Loans, gas station credit cards and small retail store (like in the malls) credit cards are the easiest ways to get credit esatablished. Limits on those types of cards are not very high and you can only use them at the specified locations so it is hard to go overboard with them.

besides getting a credit card, you can apply for a small personal loan through your bank...or a car loan....and make sure you pay your bills on time...and within a year or two...your credit will go up...

Apply at some other banks
