They know EXACTLY what you are spending your cash on. This information gets passed on to 3rd parties WITHOUT your permission. This information is priceless to them. And you get back 1penny for every pound you spend. Hope it is worth it? |

The same thing applies to the Kroger and Publix and CVS value cards that you keep on your keyring. They scan that, give you a slight discount, then you pay however you want.
What they dont tell you is that this info is given out to just about everyone. There was even a store of a guy who bought lighters, ligher fluid and burnt his neighbor's house to the ground. They found out he used his "rewards card" and paid cash, but all the evidence was there. |

I learned that a long time ago from an episode of Law & Order, where a woman was stalked by a man (who was in prison, mind you) by using her list of what she bought and when and from what store... The manufacturers know what we are buying, so what? Why not? The government watches where we go on the internet and what books we check out of the library and can even tell how much money is in our wallet due to that metal band inserted into bills these days--they can fly a satellite over your house and tell if you are running a drug den (or having sex). Come on, people--it's 2007, post-Nine Eleven...a lot of this they were doing BEFORE Nine Eleven, so why squawk about it now? There are things worse than getting your picture taken every you drive through an intersection.... |

Not everyone sees beyond him/herself. That few cents off can be more important than the big picture; and, it usually and sadly is. Neglible cost to the company and look at all the information (Data backed INFORMATION) it provides. Disgusting! |

I'm not using my card to pay for anything illegal. I don't have anything to worry about on that end.
As for information getting passed to third parties. I have not seen any evidence of that yet (no mail, no unwanted emails)...perhaps because before I signed my card I reviewed the privacy policy agreement that I signed.
As for the 1penny for every pound you spend.....what does that mean. I get points for every dollar I spend. Since I don't spend that much money on my store card I don't recieve very man points in return. So..plus the points are worth much.
You must have a bad bank or pariticpating in illegal activiyties if this happens to you or if you are paranoid of people knowing what you spend your money on.
Honestly my card isn't that useful. I just have it for in case of emergency and if I really want to shop and pay credit instead of cash. Most of the time I rather pay cash. |

There are so many organizations with our details that one or two more aren't going to make much difference. If you get mail from them you can bin it, & if you get emails, you can Spam it. I agree that 1p for every £1 IS a rip-off, but then you should be thankful they're giving you anything at all!!! |

You DO read what you sign BEFORE you sign it, right?
Why do you think the coupons they print up are for items you've purchased in the past, or for items similar to them?
You might want to do some research into the forged discount cards that people make. The idea is one person's card is replicated and people print up bar code labels to put on their own cards. That way, the same card is essentially shared by hundreds of people. |
