No, as long as you make sure you have one that doesn't charge an annual fee. |

I'm not aware of any cards that charge if you don't use them.
However, there are some cards that charge membership fees yearly. The biggest example is American Express. It costs about $55.00 each year (I think that's the amount). However, if you want to help your credit scores, having an AmEx is as powerful as having a mortgage on your credit score.
Hope this helps. |

not if you dont have a balance |

No, only if you have a balance on the card. Try to get one with 0% for 12 months just in case you do use it. |

it is according what you agree on. when you sign your contract. take a look at the contract you sign. it should tell you. or you can call the credit card holder and get the information you need
hopes this helps |

Not usually, however if the card has an annual fee or something similar that will be put on there and you will have to pay for that. |

Nope, and some never charge you any fee ever, providing you pay off the amount when its due. You will probably have to activate it before you use it though! However it can be very tempting for many people to use their c/c even if they know they wont be able to repay the full amount at the end of each month. Thats when they get into trouble. The outstanding balance will incur vast interest charges which will be compounded each month growing larger by the month. So providing you are strong willed enough a c/c for emergency use ONLY is free unless used. |

hi
as long as you choose a card that has no annual fee, if you don't use the card you won't be charged anything each month. you won't even receive a statement each month unless you use the card at least once.
i have several cards i keep for emergencies, some i've had for years and am never charged anything for keeping them.
hope this helps. |

I can only speak for American cards. The only way you would have to pay something is if you get a card that has an annual fee.
Just steer clear of any that have an annual fee and you will not be charged anything. You can have a card and simply not use it. HOWEVER some companies are now shutting down unused cards so it is in your best interest to use your card at least twice a year. No big deal, just buy groceries with it one week and pay it off completely when the bill comes. Simple simple!! |

Ive never had one that did that so i dont think so, as long as you dont charge anything you should be fine. |

In the UK that depends on the credit card company. Some charge an annual fee. There are those that are free if unused just make sure that you read the terms and conditions before signing. |

Another way they can get you is to charge ypu a annual/monthly payment protection fee in case you get made redundant, get sick etc. I know barclaycard did this. If you do want payment protection, get one that is a % of your balance therefore if your balance is 0, you won't get charged protection. |
