trcyddy | Do I have to give debt collector my bank info to work out payment plan? |
I received a pre legal notice from Midland Credit management the other day. It says they've been contacting me, even though they haven't in over six months. Anyway, one option it says is to call to set up agreeable affordable payments. The debt is not very much, $1025. I am able to pay this now ( I have sent payments in the past, but then circumstances came about and I couldn't). I am not running from my debt if anyone is going to make smart remarks about that. I did it, and I intend to pay it off. Question is, they have always been very pushy about wanting my banking information so they can pull it out directly. I am not comfortable with that, but want to make first payment next week, then will be paying the rest completely next month. I am just afraid they will refuse my payment or end up taking more money than authorized. If I send a money order, or even Western Union, will they accept it? Will they give me a hard time about not using my debit card? |

You could send them a money order. You do not have to give out your bank information. They would probably take it all out. Tell them what you are going to do.
Yes, the are all pushy. They want to get the money and they have even went to peoples houses and waited for them to come home. They do not have a right to harass you. Tell them how you are going to do it and when and if you don't do it, then they can harass you.
You do what you have got to do. |

Have you checked Bud Hibbs site about debt collectors.
Do a search and you can find him.
Be very careful dealing with debt collectors. .
They have been known to practice some shady deals, like charging interest and keeping people in the dark about it.
Get everything in writing and make sure you understand it before you even send them a dime.
I would never give them a debit card or any bank info for that matter. |

NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER give anyone your bank account information!!!! They will suck you dry faster than you can blink! Either send it Western Union so that you have proof they received it or send it by USPS money order registered mail with signature confirmation. Just tell them you do not have a bank account and you are not going to open one either. |

No way I'd give my info to ANYONE!! Tell them you're sending payment, then do so. If they get pushy, just hang up. |

You DO NOT need to give out your bank information. They will take payments of money order or cashiers check from your bank. Just make sure to keep your receipts for proof. And check your statement (if you get one) to make sure they are deduction your payments. |

NEVER ever give your bank information to any credit collecting agancy if they threaton you by saying they will put you to court and collect you or ant threads tell them to do so and make sure that you have the letter from a judge once they put you through court ....I worked for a collection agency and we had many ways to scare and push clients to get the money cause if someone payed I got a major major bonus ,,,,plus all the debts that are in collection are already written off by the company so the only thing that the debt you made will effect your credit EVEN IF YOU PAY IT YOU WILL STILL HAVE BAD CREDIT ONLY WRITTEN THAT YOU PAYED so you can negotiate with the credit company to pay an amount send them a money order get the recipt and keep the recipt for at least a few years and get recipts from the collection agency too just dont ever give your credit card or bank info youll get baad baad results. |

they will take money anyway they can get it---when you pay make sure you have some sort of receipt of what you paid.--do not give any bank info or anything else that is private--once again keep a receipt for what you pay |

Never give *anyone* bank account information. They shouldn't refuse payment via money order or a certified check.
If you are able to work out a repayment arrangement (either a lump sum payment or payment over time), I would use money orders to pay. Make sure to keep track of what money you've sent them. Also, make sure that you get any repayment arrangement IN WRITING. |

NEVER give a Collection agency your checking account number.
NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!! They will lie and tell you they are going to take out the payments and suddenly one day you will be overdrawn because they will take out the entire amount!!
Never talk to a collection agency over the phone, always by mail and ONLY send then a money order NOT drawn on your bank either.
PS - Go to this site it has helped me and is free!!

A collection agency will never refuse money you send them. Their strategy is to try and scare you into doing what they want you to do. The reality is that it is not worth it to them or to the company they represent to take you to court, so they just keep threatening to do so and harassing you. You need to write them a brief letter outlining a payment plan you think is reasonable for you ($100 a month or whatever you can afford). In your letter you may also let them know that if they insist on collecting the full payment at one time and continue to harass you, you will have no choice but to declare bankruptcy. That usually gets them to shut up. Send your money order on time, every month and they will probably stop bothering you. |

They have absolutely no right to your bank information. And I would also call my bank to tell them what's happening (where I live, in a small town, you actually can call your banker and they know who you are.)
I pay as many bills as I can online, but only if I can initiate the payments. I won't sign anything that lets a third party go in and take money from my account. That your creditor would be so pushy is not a good sign.
Give them a money order and make them sign a receipt. Call your bank and let them know what's happening, because I'm sure they've seen every scam in the book.
I would also report them to whatever agency in your state is in charge of consumer protection.
If they give you a hard time, too bad. I know Western Union has gotten a bad reputation for fraud. Until you hear otherwise, don't use WU.
Good luck. Times are tough for a lot of people. Hopefully all of us will see better times. |

DO NOT GIVE THEM BANK INFO! Always use money orders to pay the, or Western Union. NEVER, EVER give them bank info! |

if you are able to pay this now, they just take the full amount to the post office get a money order and mail it to them. That's the easiest way. Debt finished and no bank info. |
