Fancy That | Do (can you, will you) live without credit cards? |

Absolutely , I can live without credit cards , I agree its
a powerful tool but unfortunately it costs a lot and chances
to fall in debt are not small , cash is king i pay all my needs
in cash , i just pay the price of any thing i need no more
additional fees no more interests no more debt no more
hassle . . . . Life would be much better without these Plastic
Cards which takes our money under our nose.

I don't right now, but if I could finally get rid of them, I would try SOOO much harder than I did the first time around! Once they suck you in, it's hard to get back out! |

I'm 34 and I have never had a credit card.
I travel a lot and it has never been an issue booking hotels. I usually just have to give them a cash deposit.
I don't buy stuff online. Most of the stuff I buy is either stuff I want right now or stuff that is too expensive to buy from a retailer that is not local.
The incentive programs are just insignificant to motivate me to get a card. |

The ability to live without credit cards may depend on what you do for a living.
It is certainly possible to live without credit cards. Many people do it every day.
However whether YOU can live without them may be another question.
For example, if you travel, you may need to have a credit card to book hotel rooms, pay for car rentals and similar things. There are also some types of employment that require you to lay out money for business expenses and then get reimbursed by your employer. Using credit cards, rather than depleting your own cash reserves is one way to handle that.
Credit cards can be very handy in the event of emergency.
On the other hand, it is very difficult to live in America without credit. More and more people are doing credit checks these days, from prospective employers, to landlords and, yes, even lenders.
The price of major purchases, like automobiles and many appliances is beyond the ability of many people to pay from cash resources.
Not having established credit, can result in refused financing or, at least, much higher interest rates on that car loan than would be desirable.
Having credit cards and their judicious use is one way to establish good credit, which will help you get that job or promotion, rent the apartment you want, buy that car or new home.
Hope this helps. |

Credit is a tool. A hammer is a tool. If you ask, can you live without a hammer? I'd say, yes, because if something needs to be whacked, I have a rolling pin. However, a hammer is a better tool for some jobs than a rolling pin. So if you ask, can you live with a hammer, but not get hurt while using it, I'd say, yes, but only because I have learned to be careful. Can I live without a credit card? Yes, but I choose not to. Can I live with a credit card and not get hurt? Yes.
I got myself into trouble with bad choices, had to live very frugally while I paid off my debts, and now I am wiser. I still have credit cards (try to buy a plane ticket or rent a car without one) but I am able now to discern needs from wants. You have to learn to use the mute button on the tv remote and not listen to all the ads telling you what you HAVE to have. |

Yes I do live without credit cards. I feel that if I can't afford it then I don't need to have it.
In the past I have had a c.c. but I choose not to at this point. |

u can but why? if u dont spend money you dont have then u wont have a problem. if u buy something on the internet or purchase an airline ticket u need. it gets old asking others to do and then pay them. cc are also a great thing because in a very desperate time of need they can really save u! image u are stranded somewhere or something bad happens and u have no one to call, u can get yourself home. i used to work for an insurance company and i CANNOT tell u how many times people did not have the 500 deductable and could not get their car fixed, thus having no way to get to work. its better to put that 500 on a credit card and pay $50 back every paycheck than loose your job! |

No because they are a powerful tool if you know how to utilize the wisely rather than spend them on shopping and getting yourself into debt like others have. |
