Do credit card comapanies charge interest if you pay it off in the first month?
I have a Mastercard.

No. The interest is charged on the balance you carry. If you carry a 0 balance then you have 0 interest.

However, if you pay your credit card in full your credit rating does not improve. You actually have to carry debt before you get more credit. Thus since I pay everything in cash, I have no credit. So much for working hard and paying all your bills and waiting for major purchases until you have saved enough money.

It depends on the terms of your credit card. They vary from card to card.

Most don't start charging interest until after 28 days. So... the smart thing to do is pay it in full each month and only hold a balance for unusual large purchases.

Nope!

But believe it or not - It is not a good thing to do to improve your credit rating (score).

You gain more points by paying some interest, even if it's only for a few months.

If you want to pay things off monthly (which is fine for some), use an American Express card. They like it if you pay them in full.

Hope this helps,

The Ol (usually broke) Sasquatch Ü

You always want them to receive it by the due date. Otherwise the interest continues for a few months even after you have paid in full

Patti
Hi. Great question. If you pay your balance "in full" each month BEFORE the "due date" (ie: say 3-4 days before it becomes due).....then NO they will not charge you any interest.

THIS WILL ALSO GIVE YOU AN EXCELLENT RATING & YOU WILL START RECEIVING THINGS IN THE MAIL SUCH AS THE ZERO-percent balance transfers and zero-percent car loans when you reach that Golden "Excellent" Credit Rating.

Blessings, Patti

No, they only charge interest on what you have not paid when the bill is due.
