steph9950 | Do credit cards charge you for the annual fee if you don't use your credit card? |
|
|

If you sign up for a credit card with an annual fee, they will charge you for it regardless of usage. There is no connection between balance and your annual fee, so if the account is open and you are able to use it, then it is subject to all the fees you agreed to when you signed the application. When you receive your card, you also receive the contract stating exactly when and how your annual fee is applied.
If you have any concerns about your specific account, try calling your credit card company and speaking to a real human being. The best way to get an accurate answer is directly from the source. |

Yes they do.
But you can switch to a card with no annual fees. |

Yes they do. More likely to have them waive the fee if you are a heavy user of the card, but you can ask. Threaten to leave to another company if they don't waive fee. |

Especially if you don't use it. They make their money two ways. Interest charges and fees. The annual fee is guess what? A fee. You can always ask to have it waived. But sometimes that's a bit like saying you'll take all your money out of your bank if they don't...whatever. I don't know about you but my bank account balance would make my banker chuckle if I threatened. |

Every year. And they might even raise your rate if you don't use it. Read the contract. "Waaaa I don't have time to read the contract." Well then you get what you deserve. |

Some credit cards carry a yearly usage fee. They usually carry a lower APR however the best deal on credit cards can be found at your local Credit Unions. No annually fees and low rates. They work for their members and not stock holders. You as a member are the Credit Union. Lower rates better service. |
