Do credit repair bureaus really work?

Yes, but they usually charge a fee in the beginning. They say that it won't affect your credit score. These programs also will have your bills paid off fast.

First look at the link below, supplied by the FTC.

I have a very simple test you can do if you wish to hire a credit repair company.

Ask them to give to you , in writing, that they will "repair" your credit within "xxx" time. Make sure you get everything they promise in detail....and they at they agree not to accept any of you money until they have done everything in the agreement.

They will not sign it. Why? Because there is no way they can guarantee they will repair your credit. It's simply impossible.

But if they do sign it, go with them.

There is nothing that a credit repair bureau can do to repair credit problems that are legitimate. You are entitled under the law to get copies of your three credit bureau reports: Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. You can review the reports and challenge any legitimate disputes. What on earth can a credit repair service do for you that you cannot do yourself??? They charge you money and promise you all kinds of things that legally they cannot change. Sure, they can dispute every entry but so can you. Save your money and use it to pay a bill. As for the reports they are free under the law so get yours TODAY.

i don't know but why should you pay someone money to call creditor and ask for a payment plan when you can do that and there is no big charge

I quote from the 2007 Consumer Action Handbook. " Credit repair companies advertise that they can erase bad credit for a hefty fee. Don't believe them".

If you want to try a counseling service, call Consumer Credit Counseling Services, they are free and will work with your creditors to lower your monthly payments as well as your interest rates. I used them several years ago and was debt free in 36-months.

Your accounts will show as managed by credit counseling on your bureau but that's a whole lot better than showing as being delinquent.

They dont work, save your money. You can do it yourself. Get a free credit report and call all of does that have a negative on your credit report. Pay your bill on time next time and pay them in full.

Not really they also cost money that could go to your bills. I suggest you apply for credit and when your turned down you will get a letter with a code that you can use to get your credit reports free and then approach each entry to resolve all the issues yourself. Then pay all that are not disputed.
