No under Federal law, once you report the loss or theft of a card, you have no further responsibility for unauthorized charges. In any event, your maximum liability under Federal law is $50.00. |

No - I think that you will find that they cannot make you pay for fraudulent transactions, they have paid money out of your account without your concent and therefore they are at fault.
If they won't play ball I would suggest getting a solicitor or go to citizens advise and write to them, don't let them fob you off, and if they do complain to the banking ombudsman.
If you don't accept their word generally they will repay you. |

In England the banks are legally bound to pay for fraud committed on your credit card.
You reported it missing, they failed to stop the card, their fault not yours.
Even if you had not reported it missing, they must honour the debt, not you.
Good luck. |

what bank told you , you had to pay the money back. If your card was reported stolen Before they charged up a storm on it , then No you should not be liable to pay that money back. What strikes me as odd is , If the card was reported stolen , why did it work when they charged on it, it should have been Denied .. |

If it was reported lost, then the card should have been deavtivated. call to make a complait to the bank stating you called that it was lost and they never cancled the card. |

Not if you're in England. The moment you report it stolen it becomes the bank's problem, they should have blocked it immediately. I presume you have a note of when you reported it - they can check this on their records too. Did you know that?
Have they written to you about it? Then show the letter to a solicitor. |

I don't know if you had already done so, but I think one of the banks rules is that beside notifying them of a stolen card, you should have notified the police and obtained a crime number from them. |

They should have canceled out your account when you reported it. How could the card be use again ? |

If this is a credit card and you reported your card lost before it was used then the bank should have CANCELLED that card. This is their error not yours and you should not be liable. If you hadn't reported it lost (maybe didn't realize it) until after the charges then your are only liable for up to $50.00.
If it is a debit card- same thing- they should have cancelled it when you reported. However, if someone used it in an ATM & knew your PIN # then they can require it paid back since they figure you gave the person that info.
My daughters ex husband did that to her a few years ago - she had to file a police report & prosecute him in order for them not to come back on her. |

Check thier fraud policies and procedures and check what your credit card statement says about it. I think that they should be able to eat the cost. However, they also want to make sure that you didn;t report it stolen and then gave ti to a friend to buy you a bunch of stuff you want. See thier concern? |
