☆Star☆ | Do things not showing on my credit report affect my credit? |
I have bad credit as it is but I'm working on fixing but to start off I'm only paying the debts that show on my credit report... but I know for a fact I have some other things that DON'T show up for some reason but they are over a year old and delinquent... so by now they should show up. Any way, I'm pretty close and caught up with my bills (the one's that show on my report) but if I try to apply for credit somewhere or if an employer looks up my credit will those bills NOT showing affect me in any way???? thanks if you answer.. |

Just because they do not show up on your report does not mean that they will not effect (affect?) you.
Suppose for example, you moved out of my apartment complex without payment. As a small landlord, I am not going to put this directly on your credit report, but if you do not pay in what I think is a reasonable amount of time then I am going to take you to court.
IF I do and win, there is no doubt that I will request a garnishment of your wages. THIS will show up on not only your report but also in public records.....and to the best of my knowledge once that shows up it does NOT come off.
SO I guess what I am saying is that if I sue you that might come up on a broad records check regardless of the outcome.
Dont wait for them to come looking for you.
Pay them- when/if they find you in court, you will pay court costs and attorney's fees |

No, obviously not all companies report their billing to the credit bureaus. Having a good credit score is nice, but being honest and paying for what you receive in a timely manner is more important and will pay off in the long run. Even if it never ends up on your credit report it will eventually come back to haunt you one way or another. |

No they do not affect your credit but if you have had these problems you really should not take out any more credit. |

Not everyone reports to all three credit bureaus. You should check all three credit reports. Some of those items might be on one but not the other two.
Also, just because they aren't showing now, doesn't mean they won't show up later. If the delinquent accounts are turned to a collection agency, they will show up as long as they are within the 7 year reporting period.
You should also understand that paying off old debt won't increase your credit score. The damage is already done. However creditors do look at the entire credit report and paid old debt looks better than unpaid.
You are going to need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history for your score to improve. |

No it don't show up (things such as phone or utility bills for example) BUT if you have outstanding bills it is bets you work them off aswell before going and applying for more credit. If you can not afford to pay them you can not afford to get more credit.
Consolodate those debts and pay them off. It is great you are trying to bring your credit score up but it is no use if your setting yourself up for failure again. |

While it may seem easier at first glance to just wipe the slate clean by declaring bankruptcy, you should avoid it whenever possible. The fact that you went bankrupt will stay on your credit report for 7 years and will thus affect any future credits you apply for<!--Work with your creditors or even a non-profit debt consolidation company to avoid having to file for bankruptcy. You should diligently make payments and make them on time for your existing debt.

A good payment history is the most surefire way to improve your credit. The key is to not be late with your payments. When you restructure your debt, or when you create new debt, make sure you-->will be able to make your payments in full on time. It takes a little while before you see your credit score rise, but stick with it and make those payments and your credit will improve. |

It depends on where the employer is looking. There are more than one credit bureau that keep track of your information.
Let's say if you own 5 credit cards, one bureau will only have information on 3 of those credit cards but not the other 2. The other bureaus however, might have information on your 2 credit cards but not your other 3.
Your delinquent accounts might be on another report under a different bureau than the one you are currently looking at so make sure to check into that.
However, this might not impact you at all depending on how long ago you have had that delinquent account and what has happened to it. Usually, if you have dealt with that particular account, then they erase it after 3 years. It might not be delinquent after all. And everything will be okay. |
