Do u know what is the diference between VISA and MASTER CARD credit cards??
I had checked the benefits of each one and they give you the same, but sometimes in some shops you can not pay with VISA or with Master card, does someone can tell me the diference?? please

The only difference that I could think of is that Visa is a public company and Mastercard is a private company. Visa is publicly trading in the stockmarket while Mastercard isnt.

Mostly they are just two different compainies. As stated one is public on the trade and the other isn't. Other then that the difference may be where they are accepted. While most compaines list their credit card machines with a general provider for all credit cards. There are those that like Visa and will accept nothing else, as well as those that like master card. I also find it easier to use my master card in a lot of overseas places, more then visa.

There is no real difference they're just brand names. Whether a store accepts one or the other depends on alot of factors. Most stores take Visa and Mastercard and alot don't take AMEX or Discover. Everytime you charge a purchase the the credit card company withholds a small percentage of it from the merchant as payment. Some cards charge too much so stores don't accept them and sometimes the credit card company ends the relationship with the store.

I've always thought that Visa was more widely accepted than Mastercard. Visa is also more highly thought of than MC since it is a public company.

MC tends to 'nickle & dime' you too much. They charge for every little thing they do and have more annual fees then Visa - depending upon the bank that issues it.

I solved the dilemma by getting one of each - that way you are covered, no matter where you go (especially overseas!).

Of course theres a HUGE difference. Because most banks endorse visa, it is more widely accepted and you wont have to pay to use their services. MasterCard is more limited and they charge a percentage of the amount they use. These businesses do not accept other forms of payment as usual just to nail the consumer, MasterCard has been declining exponentially as the popularity of visa arises. Popular banks such as Bank of America don't offer MasterCard services anymore, along with many others. Just an example, the University I go to, only acepts American express and Mastercard, NOT VISA. They charge me 2% of the ammount payed for every transaction, and it sucks.

The difference is not between Visa and MasterCard but between the financial institutions that creates them.

So you have some credit cards shopping to do !

i believe that retailers have to pay for the services of visa MasterCard amex and so on so they pick one and stick with it

Mastercard is the most widely accepted, Visa second I believe. The one card that most businesses do not accept is Discover not Visa. The differences between the two cards depends on the bank, not so much the card themselves (MC or Visa).
