If the medical facility or billing agency reports the unpaid bills to a credit reporting agency they do!

If you are low income, some medical facilitys do have a income form to fill out and sometimes they do waive fees or knock the bill down a bit. You should contact the place that you have the bill with and offer to make $5 payments either by the month or week, it is more cost effective to hold your bill, than it is to turn it over to a collection agency.

Yes they do, but what you do is just send them $5.00 a month and as long as they accept it, they will show that you are making payments on a regular basis, although late, and it will look better than nothing being paid at all. Good luck and try to keep your credit clean, it truly sucks to have bad or even so-so credit.

polkahaunis
sure do

Yes, any unpaid bill will affect your credit in a negative way.

They show up on your credit but they are not suppose to use them against you by what I read in a magazine article a while back.

Unfortunately yes they do. But some hospitals if you show them that you can't pay will waive the fee. Not all but some.

fuji636
no because it will go to a reporting place and if the bill is not over at the most 12.000 the place will turn it over to the place that put the order in for collection ps. have had a lot unpaid H bills

More and more these days medical companies are reporting to the credit companies. It seems unfair in my opinion to report the payments or lack of when the insurance companies pay such a large portion to them. (in other words I could get on a HUGE soap box about his subject)
Anyway, the best thing to do is check your credit report and if there is something from a medical establishment talk to them about your payments and etc. Generally speaking as long as you are making "some" type of payment each month to the medical office you should be ok with your credit rating.
Best thing to do is ask though.
Good luck with your finances.
God Bless.
