You have to be 18+ to actually apply for one in your name. Since your parents gave it to you, it means they are responsible for your debt if you fail to repay it, and it goes in their credit history. Since it's in your name, you are allowed to use it. Just be responsible about it! It's good to start learning to be responsible about money at a young age, but don't spend more than what you can repay, if you have a job. Or don't spend more than what parents say is ok! |

You don't have to be 18 to use a credit card. My daughter has had several credit cards since she was 14. While some banks require authorized users to be 18 years of age that isn't the case with Citibank.
Naturally your parents need to monitor/approve your use and you need to be responsible and abide by their rules for using it.
No, you don't need ID to use the card, Visa and Mastercard merchant rules prohibit a merchant from requiring ID though they are permitted to ask. While you aren't required, many merchants/clerks are ignorant of the rules and insist on ID, you can either choose to shop elsewhere or carry a school ID to show them. |

no...i think anyone can use it if they know how to |

As long as your name is on the card and it is signed you can use it. You don't even have to be 16 as long as your signature matches. |

to have a credit card in your name, not as a joint account with your mom/dad, you have to be 18. But to have one that has your name on it, but is technically a branch of your parents, the age is 16. Obviously if it was given to you, you can use it! |

You can use the card since you're an authorized user. You can't get your own card yet, since you have to be eighteen to sign the contract that's required to get a credit card. |

If they issued a credit card, then it is yours. They will probably double check to make sure that you're the correct holder, but ultimatly, they cannot turn down your card unless you don't have cash on it. Just keep a valid state ID or picture ID handy. |

Some credit card companies give credit cards to people younger than 18.
If you have your name on it, I don't see why you couldn't use it. |

Yes, you will be able to because it is under your parent's account. When I was under 18 my dad put my name on his credit card account (and I got a card with my name on it) and I never had any trouble about it. |

You bet you can use it. As long as your name is on it and you have ID. You can get one before you are 18, but it can be hard. A department store will let you have one. I was 16 when I first got one and never had troubles using it. |

Yes you can use it, but it would be silly to leave any payment open. Pay your bill in full every month. Debt is horrible if not approached very cautiously. |

You can use it. You are an authorized user on the account. You are too young to have your own credit card though. (You have to be 18.) The difference is that as an authorized user, you are not obligated to pay the bill (since you are a minor) and your parents are. If you were a co-signer (which you have to be 18 to be one), you would be responsible for paying if your parents did not. |

it has your name on it, so if you can prove you are that person, they should allow it, though they might call your parents to confirm it. |
