I was really just wondering because yesterday I was chatting to two people who went bankrupt in the last year and I know a third person who went bankrupt a few years ago.

Yes I do and his life is an absolute nightmare as he is now unable to get any form of Credit. The fact is once you have been made bankrupt, nobody will touch you. He tried to buy a car and was told by several companies that his only OPTION would be to save up the full amount of the purchase price and then come back.
Even if he had the money to buy a car, the car insurance companies would not give him credit, so once again he would have to have enough money to pay a whole years insurance premium which these days can be very expensive and which most of us pay over the twelve months.
Direct Debits are no longer an option for him as he is only allowed to operate a SAVINGS account with a 'Cash card' so no more paying for things in shops with cards, he has to take the cash with him. I could go on and on, you get the picture !.
Whilst making yourself bankrupt will clear the decks, you will be at a permanent financial disability for the rest of your life. He wishes now that he had found some way of coming to an arrangement were he could have paid the debts off over a long period of time.
I do hope your question is not prompted by you being in this predicament. |

Yes, my dad's companies went bankrupt in 2002 and there were over 400 million dollars of lost money. He has started up a new company to try to pay for all the lost money -- even after 6 years the damage is still not fixed. |

Yes I know some of them. It's very difficult situation but most important thing is not to lose hope since there is still life after even that kind of problems. It's quite rough to learn stuff that way but sometimes things end up wrong way. Just have to keep working on something another after it so not to give up. |
