Its not a scam. Plenty of cards do that-- but it means that the terms aren't that great. if you have a poor credit score this isn't that unusual. If you have a good score, cancel the card and find a better card with a lower rate and no fees. |

you don't need to pay anything to activate your credit card. it is just for security reasons that you indeed recieved your card and hence, the need to activate it. |

now, it is normal for some cards to charge an annual fee with the card but a fee to activate is bad news. don't waste your money to activate a card. there are many options for credit that do not require a fee to simply activate a card. Hopefully you haven't done it yet. Take your money elsewhere! |

An annual fee is normal, but an activation fee would be a scam. You better check the fine print, there is probably a high interest rate and some hidden fees you haven't seen yet. |
