Yes. The signature protects you if the card becomes lost. |

Many people believe that you don't have to sign your credit cards at all, but it is one more small thing you can do to help stop credit card theft. If the signature on the back doesn't match the signature on the receipt they can report it and take the card away - saves you hassle and saves the country millions in lost revenue. No you don't have to sign it before you activate it, but I highly recommend it. |

You activate it over the phone...how would they know if you signed it or not! |

Always sign the back of the credit card, this is how if someone steals it they compare your signatures to see if it was really you who used the card or not. It's the fine print of the the credit agreement you receive. I don't know exactly what it states.
But i do know a friend didn't sign his; it was stolen by a family member who signed it and used it for THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS and because that signature matched the one on the card he is still responsible for all those charges and still paying them. He even went to court to fight it, and lost cause it's the fine print. So always sign your cards!! He shared that with me, and I learned from his unfortunate happening.
Whether you do it before of after you activate it that's your decision, I'd just make sure your JOHN HANCOCK is on it. |

No. I write on it "ask for photo id". Then if the clerk looks at it, they have to get verification that it's me. Unfortunately, in most stores, they never see the card. |

Nope. After activation JUST in case. Not that there's much chance it'll make a difference at that point |

No. All you do is call the number and activate it. I never sign my cards. That is how people get your signature. |

Yes you can...but for security reasons I don't sign my name I just write "SEE ID" in the box so that when I use it they will ask to see my ID to verify that it is me and not someone else |

I don't because I'm a rebel! |

you dont have to..theyll never know.
and it might not be the best idea to sign it because if someone steals it theyll have your signature...just show your ID if anyone asks... |

You should write "See ID" on the signature area. |

It doesn't matter, although credit experts recommend writing "Check ID" in place of a signature. |

I never sign my credit cards. I write SEE ID!!! on them. It makes no sense to me to sign it. If someone gets the card, they can practice the signature and use it anywhere if the cashier doesn't ask to see ID. I'd much rather have to show my ID to everyone than have my signature right there for someone else to practice if my card gets stolen. |

Write "See Picture I.D." in the signature space and give the clerk hell if he does not ask for a proper identification! |
