Do you still write checks when you shop or use your credit/debit cards?

Credit cards even for small purchases. I do that because I have a cash-back card; because it gives a very good "paper trail," it makes it easy to itemize, and for any big ticket item, if I have a problem, my credit card company can have my back on the purchase. So for all grocery shopping and other shopping, outside of buying gas, it's a credit card.

I pay in full at the end of every month and I monitor the card close to daily on the Net so I don't have any bogus charges or other problems.

I would never use a debit card because of how the system works--they typically put a hold on far more of the funds than used; you don't get any added protections as per the credit card; your liability is NOT limited by law to $50 if your card number is stolen.

i only use checks when i'm sending in my waterbill or something like that (and alot of bills i do online!)

i'm Debit card all the way!

?
i lost my debit/credit card, had to cancel it, and was using checks for a month or so until i got a new one. it was difficult because not every place takes checks, and it was hard to draw out cash because the banks aren't always open, but it did save me some dough.

Plastic. I only write checks for rent.

bdancer222
I use a cash reward credit card which I pay in full every month -- in other words, they pay me to use their money.

I have a debit card but never use it. It's just in case I need to use the ATM after banking hours.

I use my banks online billpay and seldom write a check.

I don't even carry my checkbook with me anymore. If they get lost, even if you stop payment on those check numbers someone will still have your account and routing number so they can still have things electronically withdrawn from your account. It can be a mess. If you loose your card, they usually have a 0% liability on fraud and no info other than your name is on them.

Debit or credit. I only write a check if I must or if the payment due is to a company outside my city limits.

Yeah, when I misplaced my card. Also, my bank just sent me 85923859325 checks so I figure why not. It's kindof fun.

I'm young enough I guess that I've never used checks, just the debit card in place of it. I hardly even use cash anymore actually.

I only use my checks to send money through the mail now.

I just use debit/credit cards. It is easier 2 just swipe & go.

99.9% of the time I use my debit card. And 99% of my bills are automatically paid out of my bank account too so I don't have to hassle with them either.

I use my debit card for just about everything. I have a rewards program on it through my bank so I'm earning for using it. It helps with record keeping. It's faster and safer than checks or cash. And of course I shy away from using credit cards because I hate owing anyone money. I have zero percent fraud liability any way I go (except for cash of course) so I figure I'm covered.

Nvr2soon
Credit card. Get the cash back reward.
Pay off balance each month however.

black power
i use cash for the big buys so noone else can see how much i really have on the bill sent to my house and credit for anything under 500 bucks

jjb51
I use credit/debit cards so I can check it on line sooner with my bank. Its faster then waiting for the check to clear.

PACKratNJ
Debit rocks

jcontrols
Debit card is much faster AND you don't have to keep reordering checks! ;-)=

Worried
Only write checks for a few select bills that I want to keep the cancelled check as a receipt, like my mortgage. But for shopping, always use my card now.

Helpfulhannah
Debit Card

90% by credit card, 9% by debit card, rest by cash. None, any longer, by checks.

georgia_peach
I write checks and I also use my debit/credit card.
