Do you think credit cards are good or bad?
and also how responsable are you?

they are good, if you use it wisely.

Credit cards are a convenience, not long term financing. It's not the credit cards, it's the lack of financial management on the part of the user that gets them into trouble.

I use my credit cards for everything. I don't like to carry much cash or a checkbook. I refuse to use a debit card. However, I pay my credit cards in full every month. Since they are cash reward cards, the credit card companies pay me to use their money.

Credit cards are bad. The so-called rewards or free stuff isn't really all it's hyped to be. Read the fine print? I have one credit card for internet purchases only because I fear my debit card number getting stolen. But for everyday purchases, it's cash or debit card. Credit card companies can raise fees for whatever reason they want to and start charging annual rates. Plus you tend to spend less when you see the money leaving your hands.

Well- I guess I think that they are great if you're responsible. If you're not then they can get you into trouble.

they are both good and bad.

for example, i just graduated college and am looking for 'the job'. i have had a few months off and have gotten a little debt from things like gas and food over the last 6 months, but i am now taking a part time job that pays pretty well so that i can pay it back.

i'm very responsible. i have some debt but i pay more than the minimum balance every month and EARLY.

the same with my car payment. it is paid early every month and i have a good loan at 4% interest for the length of my loan, so i am just riding that one out and paying minimum balance every month to use the rest of my money to get my cc debt paid down.

suze orman has good cc advice for us young starter outers: if it's used for gas to get to and from work and for food, that's ok. if it's like for fun stuff like a vacation or something like that, it's a no no. if you can pay off a vacation right after you charge it that's fine, but don't let it linger ...

you know, you just have to think about if you really NEED something and can pay it back very quickly. makeup is probably my bad point, and tv on dvd, but other than that i'm somewhat frugal.

good luck with your debt if you have any.

A credit card can be very helpful in building your credit, but it can be a key factor in ruining it! If you decide to get one, make sure that you know your limits because although you may not be paying now, you WILL be paying later.

Credit cards are great!

I get to pay today and keep the money in the bank earning interest for another month. They also let me guarantee hotel reservations over the phone in towns where nobody knows me. I get a 1% discount on everything because my card issuer gives me a rebate on everything I charge.

And, best of all, it's FREE!!!!!!!!

Credit cards are a tool.
You can use a hammer to build things or hurt people.

If used correctly, credit cards save you from having to walk around with cash (robbery) and checks (identity theft/having your account cleaned out). You can also get free warranty extension on most cards

If used incorrectly, you can sink yourself so far down a economic hole you want to commit suicide. It has happened.
Used incorrectly = charging things on to the card when you don't have money somewhere else to pay for it.

Making money
credit cards are good.. you just have to give your self some limits or it will be bad
