Visa Debit, Delta, Connect
so can i use my Visa Electron card to purchase the goods?

Hello,
Technically speaking Visa Electron is considered a Debit card, which is fine, nothing wrong with that at all.
The only problem with online purchasing is that some online retailers will only accept payment via credit cards like Visa, or American Express for example. But wont take/accept Maestro or switch (usually OK within the UK but not often beyond UK shores) because their systems are NOT set up for debit card transactions but only CC transactions hence the problem.
**Its a common problem, so your not alone here at all. All I can tell you is that the situation is changing fast as more retaillers realise they will losse sales if they exclude debit card payments.
**The answer is definately YES! you shouldnt have any problems, just make sure when you make the purchase that its a secure wesite and that its using encryption (you can tell by the little padlock symbol bottom right on screen, also http should become https which means the connection is secure).

Its the same as Solo. Oh and (THE ONE14 years sweeping the floor?) its a debit card you can buy goods on the card providing you have the funds in the bank to cover it....
I HAVE ONE AND USE IT ALL THE TIME TO BUY AT SHOPS AND OVER THE INTERNET. THE SAME CARD USED TO BE SOLO SO GO FOR THAT ONE. |

a lot of places now accept visa electron, especially places like supermarkets etc. however a lot of online stuff wont because it goes through a seperate credit check system. a bit stupid of those businesses if you ask me because we take credit cards at work and our system takes both, so other obviously chose the worng card payment system.
electron is also frequently given to people under 18 so a lot of places wont accept it because you might be a child trying to get it and they're not legally covered. |

Yes you can use it for online purchases... I have a Visa Electron card & you have to make sure it has been registered for online use - check with your issuing bank, however its not as widely accepted as Switch etc but if a seller won't take it, especially if they say "they can't accept it by law" then don't buy from them anyway |

It is a DEBIT card (which means you cannot draw what isn't there)
electrons can only be used for electronic use (which means you have to be there in person to use it, its no good as paying a bill via the phone or anything)
but you can use it in any highstreet stores... trust me.
regarding additional...
Look in the bottom right corner of the card... it says DEBIT card
this card is largely accepted but you cannot use it to pay bills without your person there to enter the pin code etc...
that is the key difference between an visa electron and a visa |

I had a Visa electron and i was able to use it anywhere they had the electron sign,but also online i used it to pay for things through paypal and also some subscriptions.One in particular didnt mention electron so i ran it as a Visa and it was okay,but sometimes doing this it has been refused so its pretty much pot luck,but try it a a Visa debit first and if not just as a visa and see |
