The closest thing to a loan shark are the businesses which will give you a quick equity loan on your home or something else you own, or a pawn shop.

IF ITS FOR BILLS LIKE RENT AND UTILITIES, CAR REPAIRS ECT. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE OUT A LOAN AS LONG AS ITS UNDER $1000. GO TO MODESTNEEDS.ORG. THEY ARE A CHARITY FOUNDATION. THEY WORK THROUGH A POINT SYSTEM. I JUST APPLIED FOR MY RENT AND GOT ACCEPTED. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT 7 DAYS FOR DONERS TO DONATE TO MY CAUSE. I WAS THINKING ABOUT A LOAN UNTIL I CAME ACROSS THIS SITE. DON'T DO A LOAN IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO, ESPECIALLY WITH THE ECONOMY THE WAY IT IS. HOPE THAT HELPS. GOOD LUCK!!

Have you tried looking here for a loan? It will be cheaper and less dangerous than a loan shark.

Why don't you try a Credit Union? If that is not an option, then the only ones I know are Provident, Greenwoods and House of Stirling. They charge a whopping 670% interest, you have to work up a credit rating and they come calling every week to make sure you repay the money. I had to use them when I moved here first as I had no credit rating at all. Once I got on my feet, I didn't touch them.

If you have a bad credit history still the loan market place is full of lenders who are ever willing to offer you a fresh loan. But you should be meeting some conditions laid down by the lenders. Loans for bad credit people are in fact easier to get then they were ever before, thanks mainly to cut-throat competition amongst the lenders. Lenders are giving loans to the bad credit people who have late payments, payment defaults, arrears, county court judgments or any credit problems. These loans are available for any purpose like home improvements, purchasing a new or used car of your choice, for wedding and holiday tour, debt consolidation or for paying child’s tuition fees.

Every lender in approving loans surely likes to see if the bad credit borrower has sufficient capacity to repay the loan in timely manner. If the borrower earns well, has regular bank balance, has been an employee for some years and has a convincing loan repayment plan in place, then the lenders do not usually hesitate much. So ensure that you have adequate repaying capacity before applying for a loan. Also, you should first check your credit report for any errors. If your credit score is too low then you would be charged a very high rate of interest. So it is advisable to first pay off some easy debts to improved credit score and then you should apply for loan at better rates.

try the credit union - although you sometimes have to save a small amount of money with them first they are a good option. also they will be able to tell you who are reputable in your area. Google for the one in your area
http://www.creditunion.co.uk/history.htm

Also you could contact the citizens advice bureas (CAB) in your area - if you are borrowing this money to pay off debts they can intercede with who you owe money to and come up with a better repayment plan. The CAB are brill - do give them a buzz before you commit to a loan shark

Also try looking on www.moneysavingexpert.com for some advice - try the discussion forums - they are really useful

There is a guy named "Pipey" in London. I don't know how to reach the guy though. He might even be in jail right now, not sure.
