Applying for a prepaid credit card is easy as there are no credit searches necessary, because the card providers are not offering you credit! The application is usually fairly quick and simple and in some cases the card issuers offer 100 per cent acceptance - you don't even need to be 18 with some companies.

Prepaid credit card uses Not only can a prepaid card enable customers who find it hard to get credit, but this type of card can help you take control of your finances, if you have found normal credit card interest rates too high and the balance offered too tempting. You can be confident that you will stick to your budget with a pre-paid card, as you are the one who sets it by deciding how much to top-up your card with!

Most prepaid credit cards can enable you to: No longer have to carry cash when shopping Use an ATM to withdraw money - at home and abroad Transfer funds - send money to other cardholders Shop on the internet with security Top up your mobile phone Have an additional prepaid credit card for family use - useful for a teenager for emergency use (usually 13 years plus for a named card holder). I had an unsecured credit card when I was younger, you actually have to pay about $30 for a $300 line of credit, however if you always pay the bill on time it will do wonders for your credit and you'll have no problem qualifing for regular secure credit cards. BTW I would not use capital one the only reason the apr doesn't go up on these cards is that it starts at %19.

If you have poor / no credit-- you'll be limited with the types of credit cards you can apply for. If you've been denied, you probably applied for an a 'standard' credit card designed for someone with good / excellent credit. These are the types of credit cards you should be applying for:

http://www.asapcreditcard.com/unsecured-offers.html

Although these credit cards tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compared to 'standard' credit cards-- they'll help you prove your creditworthiness and increase your credit score. Eventually, with regular on-time payments-- you'll be able to apply for better offers with lower APR's and less fees.

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!

credit is credit and it is based on a score you have earned by proving yourself honest and worthy ... as well as finacially able to pay it back

If you want to estabish credit and absolutely have to have a card - many banks and insttutions will give you either a small ($200) credit card to help you try the waters - or - you can get a pre-paid credit card (you give them $200) so that you can use it on the net etc. Talk to a bank manager and honestly tell him your plans. She will be a huge help to assit you in understanding what you are getting into.

BE CAREFUL

it is such an awful trap and it is NOT free money ... you cannot hide from credit card debt - beleive me they know what they are doing before, during and after!!!

... also CHECK those interest rates! It may not matter to you at first, but it can kill you later. Cards and banks differ - the bigger the risk you are, the higher the interest can be.

iti® Bronze®/AAdvantage® MasterCard®is by far the most widely used card. It is essential for regular travelers with average credit. Its reward program gives you an additional mile per $2 spent on the card. You can collect up to 25,000 miles annually, and can be redeemed for flights on partner airlines, hotel accommodations throughout the world, and car rentals. Additional benefits are: zero liability for unauthorized transactions, travel accident insurance and various Internet account associated services. The card does not charge any annual fee. But the drawback is the minimum APR cap for cash advances, set at 19.99%.

The EASIEST credit card that you can get is a secured credit card. Where you might do you banking may offer these. What it is a credit card that uses a savings account as collateral. It's called the security deposit, and usually whatever the security deposit is, you get the same amount in a line of credit. Now the security deposit doesn't pay for what you charge only unless you're delinquent to the point that they have to close the account and use that to pay it off, but if you're wanting to build your credit, you really wouldn't want to do that anyway. Remember, that the savings account would be gaining interest while the deposit's in there, so you could think of it as saving money while you're building credit at the same time. A tip to know not just with this kind of credit card, but with any credit card is to make sure that you don't max it out and make sure that you pay more than the minimum payment every month. With a secured card, you can up your limit by adding to the security deposit ever so often to give yourself a higher limit, becuase usually after a year of perfect payment history, the account should either convert to unsecured or an offer for an even better card will be extended to you. It helps if you have a high limit/low balance because it shows that you're responsible with high limits, which with a secured card you can build a higher limit than you could with an unsecured card, as you would have to wait periodically for line increases instead of adding to a savings account. As long as you took care of business, you won't lose anything as far as the deposit goes.

I've posted several links to several applications for credit cards,

Good luck
