darwinsti | Does anyone know an actual way to "quickly" raise your credit score? |
I am in dire need of a house at the moment. We can afford quite a few around the city but our credit score is currently 565. There are several items on our report that were charged off in chapter 7 bankruptcy over 7 years ago. Are the credit bureaus supposed to remove this info after 7 years or do i have to initiate the removal? If anyone knows please help. Additional Details I know the bankruptcy will stay for 10 years, but i thought the accounts that were discharged in the bankruptcy had to be removed. Along with anything else that is on the report after a seven year stretch. |

The bankruptcy status should disappear after a 7-10 year period. I am guessing by your credit score that either due to a lack of credit or not meeting your debt payments of any kind in a positive manner has not been favorable.. Improving that will slowly help improve your score. There may be one possible way to improve your credit score rather quickly. The method is called PIGGYBACKING. It may still be a possibility but the credit card companies and the credit bureaus have been trying to eliminate that action.
How it works: you find someone with a good credit score that has at least one credit card. The individual;if they are willing to do so, will add you as a second card holder named on the account. This can be a risky situation for the actual card holder but your score should improve in 3-6 months as long as the actual card holders credit reports are favorable. You have to be trustworthy enough not to cause an unfavorable credit activity being reported against the actual card holders account. |

It's not as hard as you think to raise credit score. It's a well known fact that lenders will give people with higher credit scores lower interest rates on mortgages, car loans and credit cards. If your credit score falls under 620 just getting loans and credit cards with reasonable terms is difficult
there are many ways that you can use to raise credit score.
but let me give only this three ways
1. Get a copy of your credit report
Obtaining a copy of your credit report is a good idea because if there is something on your report that is incorrect, you will raise credit score once it is removed. Make sure you contact the bureau immediately to remove any incorrect information.
Your credit report should come from the three major bureaus: Experian, Trans Union and Equifax. It's important to know that each service will give you a different credit score.
2. Pay Your Bills On Time
Your payment history makes up 35% of your total credit score. Your recent payment history will carry much more weight than what happened five years ago.
Missing just one months payment on anything can knock 50 to 100 points off of your credit score.
Paying your bills on time is a single best way to start rebuilding your credit rating and raise credit score for you.
3. Pay Down Your Debt
Your credit card issuer reports your outstanding balance once a month to the credit bureaus. It doesn't matter whether you pay off that balance a few days later or whether you carry it from month to month.
Most people don’t realize that credit bureaus don’t distinguish between those who carry a balance on their cards and those who don’t. So by charging less you can raise credit score even if you pay off your credit cards every month.
Lenders also like to see a lot of of room between the amount of debt on your credit cards and your total credit limits. So the more debt you pay off, the wider that gap and the better your credit score. |

A chapter 7 bankruptcy says on your credit report for ten (10) years, not 7. This and unpaid tax liens are the two major exceptions to the 7 year rule. |

Fixing your credit score is like losing weight, it takes time.
You need to
-make your payments on time
-close some credit cards -
-not maximize your credit limits
-not exceed your credit limit
-not apply for credit(credit seeking) to many institutions as each hit on your credit lower your score.
In your case if you are in Canada, I would contact Equifax (www.equifax.ca) and ask them if those tradelines have been dropped after 7 years?
Sometimes charged off tradelines stay on your credit bureau report after 7 years, however, they would not have any impact on your score. To me your credit scores should be way above 565 unless you're not managing your credit well at the moment.
Have you looked at your credit report recently? |

go to your local credit borough and they can help. What they will do is send in despite forms on your behalf. If they do not get back to them with 30 days the borough will make it good on your report. If you have paid them off already and it is still on your report 9 out of 10 times they will not reply back and this will help your credit but if you still owe they will make an effort to get back just hope they miss the deadline |

You need to request them to remove.Provide a copy of your discharge papers and ID to the credit bureaus and ask them to remove the items.
If your bankruptcy is still there ,Your score may rise by 60 or more points after they've removed it. |

You can start by getting a free credit report from www.alphacreditservices.com and simultaneously apply for a card that is offerred by some companies to create a positive image in the wake of a negative one.
If plastic is your weakness then just clean your report through the big three. Request that the negative items be removed and that will help.
In the meantime look for a house on a lease purchase or rent to own program and request that your payments be awarded toward the mortgage. Ask to negotiate low payments spread out over time until you better your position this way you are not pressed and you free available cash which increases your net worth. You can find an owner financed property to negotiate your terms
go to www.alphacreditservices.com and search for ways to better your financial position. |

Sorry to burst your bubble but people with a score of 680 and 20% down now are having trouble getting a mortgage. Do you not read the news? You want to raise your credit score pay off all you owe on credit cards, if you have anything in collections lots of luck if you can get a pay to delete that is your only chance on getting them removed. Sorry to sound so hard but basically not going to happen, yes you will get offers from scam artists promising you the world but you will only end up worse than you are now. Take the time clean up your credit, save some money and then, only then proceed on your dream of homeownership. If not your will have a dream for but a few months, and then lose it |
