Try Capital One, H.S.B.C., Orchard Bank and First Premier.

You should dispute the credit card charges on your credit report on line, you don't have to throw your mom under the bus, simply tell them that these are not your accounts and you were a minor, they can not hold you responsible.

Teri W
Spifiman is correct, dispute these accounts, if they were opened when you were a minor, you are not responsible for them.

Do a google search on "secured credit cards". This will identify banks that are willing, in exchange for putting up a savings account as collateral, a credit card.

hi,
use www.haven-finance.co.uk
they specialise in helping people with bad credit. you pay a one off fee which is quite low, they search until a company is found who will give you a credit card. it wont take more than a week. top service!

the best way is to get a secure card from ur bank. You can get a credit card from Orchard bank or priemer bank but their rate would be ridiculously high, so better not miss any payment or let incur late charges. Rely on ur cash income and get credit card only to build the credit history.
Keep an eye on ur FICO score and look ur credit report once in a year.
You can get free report once a year from any one of the 3 big credit burea company.
www.annualcreditreport.com
Also if you are willing to pay the debt, contact the creditors and let them know u r willing to pay. But I guess being a bad credit, ur case must already be handling by collection agencies.
So, here is off the record suggestion.....
if ur credit is already so screwed up. Dont pay it..
I dont know which state u live but it takes minimum 5 to 10 yrs to write off all deliquincies and derogratory items from the credit. Review your credit report and if it has been some number of years that your mom never pay then skip it.
It will only take some time to get u on the right track but at least you wont need to pay ur hard earn income to pay off the debt which you were not responsibly.
You are only 19 and trust me, if you follow what i have said, you will be able to get a prime rate for ur mortagage after few years.
Good Luck!

You can try Premier and HSBC, I am in the process of re-establishing my credit and those were the first companys to offer me credit. Keep your mom away from your cards!!

Robin K
HSBC sometimes approves accounts for people with bad credit. I know Discover has contracted with them and if you apply for a Discover card and are not approvable, they'll automatically check to see if you're approvable for an HSBC card without a second credit inquiry. Kind of like killing two birds with one stone.

In my experience there are two types of Bad Credit Credit Cards. One is a secured card, and the other has a much higher rate of interest. Both can be used to rebuild your credit worthiness after getting back on your feet. Secured credit cards are great for rebuilding your credit. You send the credit card company a pre deposit amount set by the company<!--This amount will be equal to your credit limit. Pay over your minimum every month and send your payment in before the due date and you will build your credit up gradually. Never miss a payment, be late on a payment, or go over your credit limit even by a small amount.

You don't want the company to ever have to take from your pre deposit amount because they want you to handle your account just like you would an unsecured card. A great thing about this pre deposit amount that you send in is it can act as a savings account even earning a little-->bit of interest for you. After establishing yourself with the credit card company, they may decide to give you a unsecured credit card or increase the limit on the one you have with them without having to make another deposit. Secured credit cards are a good choice for anyone wishing to rebuild their credit history.

Now, there are cards for people for bad credit(First Premier, New Millenium, etc.) but there's a catch, usually these cards are so bloated with ridiculous fees, that by the time you get the card, more than â…” of your available credit is gone, and you already have a bill with a minimum payment. To some, they may not have a problem with it. Me personally, I don't think it's worth it. If I'm going to spend ANY money on a credit card before I use it, I might as well open a secured credit card. At least I have a chance of getting the money I invested back.

You don't necessarily HAVE to have a savings account. That's where the deposit money is linked to, as collateral while you're establishing credit. And by adding to the deposit, the limit is increased, giving you more control than a regular card. Also, keep in mind that you can also think of this as a emergency savings fund while you're building credit. The key to using the card is to make SMALL purchases($10-15) that you can pay off on time , and try to increase the limit every month if possible. That helps your score the higher the limit you have. Also it creates an larger emergency fund later on. Usually after a year of paying off the balance on time, the card coverts to a regular one, or a better card is offered. And more importantly, the deposit isn't needed anymore and is given back. Then you'd not only have a regular credit card with a decent credit limit, but you'd have an emergency fund for yourself.

It does help if you have a checking and a savings account to help you pay your bills on time, especially if you're trying to get a credit card. Sometimes sending in money orders just doesn't cut it. It's a lot easier to build credit when you have one.

I posted links to some secured cards that should help

Thanks for reading and good luck!

If you want my opinion and im sure you do. I would stay away from credit cards and not obsess with the I love debt score. all you get is debt.

Pay as you go and live on less than you make and you will have money. If you have money you don't have to borrow. if you don't borrow you don't need to worship at the alter of the almighty fico score.

Debt free is the way to be!
