You can't have a "PERFECT" credit score when you are 19. You may have a high score, but far from perfect.

The interest rate on any card is irrelevant because you will be paying it off each month. If you think that sounds tough, how will you feel when you turn 20 and you have credit card debt you can't pay. What will that look like by the time you turn 21?
The card you have definitely is too high - but you should pay off the balance and keep it for a couple of years. You'll learn how to manage your budget, keep a good payment record which is good for your credit and it will give you leverage for the next step in your financial future.
You need only ONE credit card - ONE - no department store cards, no gas cards, etc.. ONE And restrain from using it for necessities - groceries, gas, bills - or you will find yourself living a life you can't afford. If you can't pay off the balance, stop using it until you do.
I know this all sounds tough - but be smarter than the average person you're age - don't enter adulthood with debt...

Most credit cards have like 25%. If you want to have the lowest interest card, take any credit card and pay it off each month. You will never owe a dime in finance charges. Bankrate.com also has a lis of credit card comparisons, and I'm sure you could find a low rate card. |

I would first call your credit card company and ask them to lower your rate. And dont just ask the person answering the phones, ask to speak to the manager. If you have never been late on your card or have no excess charged amounts. You should be able to negotiate a lower rate.
Looking for a new card and acquiring one will drop your credit score some. |

Hi Gaelbooks,
There are several credit cards that are very good that offer low interest rates. I would reccomend looking at a few and finding one that offers the features that fit you best. Look at the ongoing APR! Because most offer 0% Intro APR's.

start with the place where you bank
also, trying calling the company who issued the card you have, and asking them to lower your rate [sometimes that works if you have a good history with them]
also the lending institution that your car is financed with [if you have one] may issue credit cards based on your performance in paying your auto loan |

What do you mean by "perfect"? At age 19 you haven't had enough time to build a credit record which takes years, and several opportunities to prove your credit worthiness, to increase your credit score. Due to your age, it is unlikely that you will get anything lower that 20+% but you can try whatever bank you have an account with. They will at least have record of your financial relationship with them. |
