There are more that a few lenders who specialize in credit cards for people with bad credit. You just have to look a little harder than most people have to.

And getting a card after you've had a few problems doesn't necessarily mean that you have a higher than normal rate. Like, I said, you'll just have to compare between credit lines, yearly fees, and interest percentages. Just make sure you do your homework BEFORE you commit, and you'll be fine.

You can find some offers for credit cards, both secured and unsecured here:

Go to your bank and get a secured credit card. You will have to leave a deposit with them and they will give you a card with a limit equal to your deposit. Over time, as you show credit worthiness, you may be able to get an unsecured card.

I know Capital One will give you a credit card with less than stellar credit. The limit will be low though so be careful about using a card like that. If they give you a card with a $500 limit and you charge $500 each month and pay it off each month, it will still look like a maxed out credit card on your credit report.

Search and apply online for the best bad credit cards that may help rebuild your credit. If your application is approved, make a purchase and don't forget to pay at least the minimum before the due date.

Note: If you pay above the minimum payment, you will not pay as much as the interest charges.

Image Hosting by Picoodle.comAsk your family or friends to co-sign for first few bad credit cards. Lenders will consider the co-signer's existing credit.

Note: This is a big responsibility - you can cause major headaches for the co-signer if you don't pay as agreed.

Major credit card issuers like Discover, American Express and Chase offer a credit card for bad credit holders. A 'shopping' card offers you an unsecured line of credit from specific sellers. Use these cards to increase your credit rating, since the credit bureaus will be informed about your timely payments.

Take care to ensure your credit is good by making intelligent credit choices. Keep low balances, do not be extravagant and take care to pay off your balances promptly every month.

A Credit card for people with bad credit is a form of borrowing that often involves charges. So it's wise to compare terms and fees before you agree to open a credit or charge card account. Try looking for a credit card<!--with a low APR. Find out the APR because this is the amount charged to you on monthly balances.

Are you overwhelmed with credit card offers and don’t know which one is right for you? Tired of looking for a credit card? Chances are you have received your share of credit card solicitations. Not sure-->which credit cards you should apply for? Shop around because not all credit cards for people with bad credit are created equal.

Secured credit card are special type of credit cards which have some collateral attached with them. Generally the collateral is a bank account or some deposit. Secured credit cards are simply great for those who have less than perfect credit and those who want to start building their credit history.

Secured credit cards generally have an application fee attached with them, so if you want to apply for a secured credit card you will have to shell out some money upfront. In addition to this application fees the secured credit cards have annual fees and relatively high interest rates.

Each secured credit card comes with a credit limit equal to the amount deposited in the credit card. However the secured credit card issuing companies deduct their fees from your deposit as soon as you start using your credit card. Let us look into this point a little further. Supposed you have deposited a sum of $300 in your secured credit card and the secured credit card has an annual fee of $120 the credit card issuing company will deduct this annual fee from your deposit and effectively you will have a credit limit of $180 ($300 - $120)with you initially. You can still get a credit card, it may have to be secured.
Some companies cater to people with bad credit but you won't get the same perks as people with good credit.
